Nap of the Day: Havana Grey colt looks the part for Karl

Yesterday's gem obliged for both Owen with his Nap Of The Day, and me, as the headliner in my Lucky 15. The winning trainer? Karl Burke. Masterful full stop, but the most marvellous way of introducing and campaigning his two-year-olds.

Karl Burke trains, Cliff Lee has the riding assignment, and this two-year-old Havana Grey colt is a perfect one-from-one so far.

Reciprocated is an April foal, out of an ordinary mare by a Juddmonte Listed winner in France. That solitary racecourse experience came at Nottingham, a stiff sprint track, and over this 6f trip he obliged at 14/1 by 1.5l, earning the Racing Post observation 'promising.'

The fourth that day, beaten 4.5l, has since hosed up by 4l in a Ripon novice. Reciprocated runs in the famous silks of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, and has a host of ambitious entries including Group 2 and G1 contests at the Curragh, the Railway and the Phoenix Stakes, respectively.

He looks to have a decent Easterby filly to beat who's quite experienced in the context of this with four runs under her belt, and a Beckett/Ryan colt similarly undefeated after one spin, at Windsor.

The Burke factor here is strong - and there's no getting away from the fact that the horse has done precious little wrong and a whole lot right so far in his short career.

It's three weeks since Nottingham, plenty of time to have absorbed the experience and benefitted from it. The accent even in sprints at Carlisle is on having the stamina to finish well, such is the demanding nature of the track, and I'm sure connections will have chosen this race with care.

Looks like a winner waiting to happen to me, on the next step to greater things.
