Nap of the Day: Showcasing filly can oblige on Tuesday

For our Nap Of The Day selection (Tuesday) we're heading north to Musselburgh, to the east of Edinburgh, and a filly who looks ready to strike.

Eight rivals oppose, and five of them are around 8/1 and bigger in the early betting skirmishes (subject to potential price fluctuation, of course). Nice chance then, plus a bit of value? We think so.

Good to be back on the Naps trail after a little break - and if memory serves my last selection was trying for a fourth success on the bounce for the feature, so we were in very decent order (it sunk without trace, obviously).

For Tuesday's tip-top tickle we're heading to Musselburgh, in the East Lothian area of Scotland. A fine track that stages flat and jumps racing, and it's a 7f Class 6 handicap on the level that's piqued my interest.

Melissa Honey is a three-year-old daughter of Gimcrack winner Showcasing, out of a Slade Power mare. Bred to be speedy then - but she proved at Haydock last time, a proper test, that this 7f was well within compass.

Seventeen days ago our selection had a troubled passage from the two marker under Hong Kong's latest recruit Dave Probert and did well under the circumstances to finish within 2.25l of the winner. She gets to race off the same mark, 59, today.

Her conqueror in the north-west, Clive Cox's Tropical Heat, was landing a double having won at Sandown previously and is now officially rated 74.

She's yet to strike in seven starts but that display showed me that her turn could well be very close at hand. Lincolnshire handler Michael Herrington trains, and Tom Eaves has the riding assignment. I like her prospects very much.
