Horse Racing Tips: Dysart Enos can make perfect start on the Flat

Seven meetings take place across the UK & Ireland on Thursday, comprised of five on the flat and two over jumps.
Among my horse racing tips for the afternoon/evening is a National Hunt star having her first start on the level.

Like most novice contests, this features plenty of unfamiliar names and potential stars of the sport. However, one name that won’t be unfamiliar to racing fans, especially those who have a keen eye on the jumps, is the seven-year-old DYSART ENOS.
She was a highly touted mare in her early days, and who knows what would have happened if she ran in the Mares' Novice Hurdle last year. Things did not work out for her last jumps season, but she still ran to her mark on several occasions and is clearly a talented mare rated in the 130s.
This is a different task to what she has previously faced. The first place to look for clues on how she will run is in the pedigree. There’s very limited data on the sire, who is very much a National Hunt stallion with just seven of his progeny taking part in a Flat race, with just one managing to win. It’s fair to say, looking at them, that most did not have much ability. However, the outlier who did win, Union Dues, was actually a promising jumps horse who won a Grade 2 bumper on debut. On his sole Flat run he won by six lengths and, if he had continued down that path, would have likely earned himself a mark in the high 80s or low 90s.
The race that Dysart Enos is partaking in is pretty weak, and if she ran anything to that kind of mark she’d very likely win, even despite giving away 11lb to the field. There’s obviously unknowns such as will she handle the surface, will she behave in the stalls, but that also goes for her rivals, all of whom are still very inexperienced.

17:17 Haydock - Anthropologist @ 15/8
Charlie Johnston is in a rich vein of form, with him striking at just over 23 per cent over the last 14 days. The yard is clearly thriving, but more importantly, the right ones are winning, and when you look at those of his who are going off favourite, you will see that 9/17 of them have won (2/3 under evens, 7/14 above evens). Even when you look at those who failed to win, you will see plenty of seconds missing out by a head or a nose.
ANTHROPOLOGIST already counts towards the statistic, going off 5/2 favourite 12 days ago and winning comfortably. The difference appeared to be the cheekpieces, which were applied first time and seemed to do the trick. Coming off an impressive win, looking at a horse who is ready to start a winning sequence, he’s likely to go off a strong favourite, but it should pay to follow this three-year-old and prove to be a worthy favourite.

Tony Carroll’s eight-year-old LEQUINTO is back in the form of his life after picking up a quickfire hat-trick. The first of those wins at Windsor was his first in two years, going on a long losing streak which saw him drop a staggering 30lb in the handicap.
He must have been working well at home, as he was a well-backed 3/1 winner when scoring his first of the three wins at Windsor, and the money was right as he cruised home to score by two lengths. He has followed that up with success over five and six furlongs, going off a short-priced favourite and making light work of the opposition.
He’s carrying a 12lb penalty today, which puts him on a mark of 70, but that’s well short of what he was winning off, and if he is back on old form, which he appears to be, he won’t have a problem landing this.
