NAP of the Day: Queen Of Thieves to steal Goodwood prize

There are just three meetings across the UK and Ireland this Sunday, with a mix of Flat and jumps action. They go on the level at Goodwood, while there are National Hunt cards down for decision at Perth and Punchestown.

My NAP runs in the feature race at Goodwood, looking to give John Gosden another success in the fillies' Listed event.

Listed action comes from Goodwood via the Weatherbys / British EBF Agnes Keyser Fillies' Stakes, a three-year-old contest run over the mile-and-a-quarter distance. It has attracted a dozen runners, with just under £40,000 on offer to the winner.

Tattycoram (fourth) and Miss Tonnerre (fifth) both contested the Musidora Stakes at York last month, a race won impressively by Friday's Oaks runner-up Whirl.

They drop in class now and are respected for Ralph Beckett and Ed Walker, respectively, with the latter-named perhaps ready to turn the tables.

Against them, QUEEN OF THIEVES is a good alternative for John & Thady Gosden with Rab Havlin in the plate.

The Frankel filly was third behind Musidora runner-up Serenity Prayer at Newbury in a novice contest on seasonal return/second start in April.

She followed up with a deeply impressive front-running success at Yarmouth (1m3½f, good) in a maiden 11 days later, scoring by a wide margin.

After that, it was off to Chester for a crack at the Cheshire Oaks, where she faded from the front as the subsequent Epsom Oaks winner Minnie Hauk came through to score. That isn't a stick to beat her with.

Since then, one run has come here over track and trip in last month's Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes where Queen Of Thieves finished sixth having been unable to get a handy position early on.

She is well drawn now to get her forward spot and she could go well on the front end over this trip at this venue.

The Gosden yard has won this race five times, most recently with Al Asifah in 2023, and they entered the weekend in super fettle, with a 27 per-cent strike-rate from their last 40 runners.

This Anthony Oppenheimer-owned filly could be set to provide the Clarehaven team with another success.
