There’s a whopping 58 races across the UK & Ireland on Saturday, but we’re crossing The Channel for our NAP of the Day.

NAP of the Day

  • 16:08 Longchamp – Isaac Shelby @ 7/2

After three winning NAPs in a row, it’s fair to say I’m on somewhat of a roll right now.

Hopefully that’s a good omen for my Arc selections on Sunday, but it’s the Longchamp card 24 hours earlier that’s of immediate interest to me – specifically the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein.

Currently heading the market for this mile-long contest is Brian Meehan’s ISAAC SHELBY, who I’m trusting to land the four-timer.

His career-best performance was over course and distance back in May, when the three-year-old was just headed by a horse called Marhaba Ya Sanafi, who subsequently placed behind Arc favourite Ace Impact in the French Derby. Strong form, then.

That was on very soft ground, and according to TurfTrax it’s good to firm in Paris right now – despite reports from other respected organisations that claim otherwise.

A slight concern, if that’s the case, but it’s not like the selection has no form on quick ground and even so this looks the easiest assignment he’s faced all season.

There’s no Kinross, who’s beaten him twice this season, for the selection to worry about on Saturday. Instead it’s Poker Face and Embesto who are his main dangers.

I’m a fan of the latter, I must admit, but I think his form falls a little short – while the former seems likely to find one too good. Isaac Shelby, hopefully.
