Musselburgh Tips: Falcon can strike on Friday

There are seven race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Friday for us to look forward to. There's a seven-race card at Musselburgh which has grabbed my attention, and I have picked out my best bets for the day.

13:50 Musselburgh - Falcon Nine @ SP
Friday's card gets underway with this Class 6 handicap over 1m 1f and there seven runners declared for this race. Going off recent form, it will be difficult to overlook FALCON NINE for Iain Jardine's yard.
The five-year-old gelding has looked sharp in his last three showings with the form reading at 321 - highlighting progress for Jardine and connections. The third-place finish came at this track at the start of July over 1m 4 1/2f, so this reduction in trip may serve him well on his return.
He followed this up with a strong second at Newcastle (1m 2f) before triumphing at Carlisle on Monday over the distance he will contest on Friday. It was a commanding victory just shy of five lengths, so another strong performance could await him at Musselburgh as he bids to go back-to-back.
14:50 Musselburgh - Homestrait @ SP
An hour later, HOMESTRAIT is in action for Brian Ellison's yard in this Class 6 Stakes race over 7f. This is another field of seven runners but I think this is a filly to keep an eye on.
She impressed on her nursery debut at Carlisle on Monday (1m) which followed her first career success which came at Doncaster last month over Friday's trip. The two-year-old daughter of Coulsty has been consistent since her first outing at Beverley in May: Six starts (one win and five second-place finishes).
Homestrait looks in great shape ahead of her return to this distance and I think she will be the one to beat on Friday.
15:20 Musselburgh - Inanna @ SP
I round off my selections in the fourth race of the day, which is a Class 3 handicap over 7f. Jim Goldie-trained INANNA is bidding to complete a Scottish hat-trick after tasting victory at Hamilton (1m 1/2f) and Ayr (7f) in her previous two starts which were both Class 5 events.
The five-year-old mare heads to Musselburgh back up the weights and steps up two grades but on current form she will be up for the contest. The daughter of Acclamation now boasts three wins over this distance but she is still seeking a first success at this track at the fifth attempt.
One concern is that she will lose some form of consistency in the saddle as Lauren Young takes over the reins from Paul Mulrennan, who has been on board for her past three appearances. However, it's not enough for me to deviate as I think she boasts strong claims on Friday.
