Lucky 15 Tips: Batt to bounce back in new headgear

There’s more domestic Group 1 action on the Flat this weekend with the Futurity at Doncaster as well as the return of Cheltenham over jumps.
The racing at Doncaster kicks off with a cracking handicap in which last year’s runner-up will bid to go one better. We have picked out a Lucky15 for Saturday’s action including a couple of value picks at rewarding odds.
Lucky 15 Tips - Saturday, October 25
- 13:30 Doncaster - Jer Batt @ 11/2
- 14:05 Doncaster - Action @ 10/3
- 14:20 Cheltenham - The Short Go @ 4/1
- 14:55 Cheltenham - Long Draw @ 5/1
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
13:30 Doncaster - Jer Batt @ 11/2
There’s plenty of pace in this five-furlong handicap with last-time-out winners Sophia’s Starlight, Lexington Blitz and Smart Vision all likely to go forward and it could set up nicely for a hold up performer.
The one that appeals most is Jer Batt who was only narrowly denied when beaten a head in this race last season.
He was unlucky not to get his head in front that day when just caught on the line and he’s been running well in defeat for most of the campaign, despite not having his conditions.
A return to slower ground is sure to suit and first-time cheekpieces could be the missing piece of the puzzle for a horse that has finished in the money on six occasions from eight starts this term.
Stall five looks ideal and the booking of the recently crowned Champion Jockey, Oisin Murphy, catches the eye so there’s plenty to recommend this son of Dragon Pulse who arguably should be favourite for this.
14:05 Doncaster - Action @ 10/3
Action may be the outsider of the three Ballydoyle runners for the operation’s bid for yet another Futurity Stakes but he could represent some value after some poor luck in running at Newmarket last time out.
He was making his challenge on the stands’ rail before losing his momentum when the winner (Bow Echo) drifted across him but he stayed on strongly to the line despite not getting a clear run.
This could turn into a stamina test on the ground which should suit this son of Frankel who is closely related to this year’s Derby winner and the disparity in price between him and the favourite looks too big.
14:20 Cheltenham - The Short Go @ 4/1
The Short Go goes well at this track having chased home his stablemate in this race last season before running a big race at the Festival despite some costly errors.
This son of Fame And Glory is only eight and the yard’s chasers often continue to improve with age so a mark of 132 looks workable, if he can put in a more assured round of jumping.
14:55 Cheltenham - Long Draw @ 5/1
There's been no stopping Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen in recent weeks and the pair have a cracking chance of enhancing their strike-rate with Long Draw.
He was highly progressive last season and wasn’t seen to best effect at Haydock when last seen. He can continue on his upward trajectory here.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £830 for your total £7.50 stake.
