Lucky 15 Tips: We believe in you Billy!

Excellent racing around the UK and Ireland on Saturday, and with all the ITV heats covered in a companion piece let's head to Chester's seven-race card (one of which is covered live by the channel) for our Lucky 15 tips.

The action kicks in at 13:15, and there could be some ease in the ground - a check on the latest going information ahead of racing, as always, is recommended.

Pop Star whizzed in for us at a recommended 7/1 yesterday at Carlisle followed swiftly by Ganthorpe at an even juicier 17/2. We've been among the winners most of the week, which is great.

Have a lovely afternoon's sport. Chester's unique, an incredible, historic venue, and majors in producing thrilling, dramatic contests.

13:50 - Pure Grit @ 6/4

A 6f novice, worth around £20k to the winner.

I'm with Andrew Balding's True Grit, ridden by Oisin Murphy, a two-year-old colt by the flying machine Pinatubo and out of a Kodiac mare.

He's had one spin so far, a very promising introduction 15 days ago at top track Newbury (1.25l second of 10). The form's not been tested yet but Newbury maidens are invariably full of nice types and Messrs Balding and Murphy need absolutely no introduction on the capability front.

14:20 - Furturra @ 11/4

It's that gentleman Murphy once again, with the champ being booked on this occasion to ride Tim Easterby's two-year-old gelding Furturra.

Four very creditable runs in maidens so far since making his debut on 26 April, and now interestingly appears in this seller worth over £12k to the winner.

His last run was his best, nine days ago, a 1.25l second of seven in a £16k Musselburgh contest over 5f, and he steps up here over 6f with pretty much the most experience in the field and one of the planet's top jockeys perched on his back.

Lots to like, and being drawn three is very respectable around this tightest of tracks, too.

14:53 - Believitanducan @ 15/8

Big contrast now - a 2m handicap for older horses, and a tried and trusted winning combination to boot.

Jockey Billy Loughnane took the Betfred 2000 Guineas recently in fabulous style to confirm his place at racing's top table. Someone who's had a seat there for a very long time is dual-purpose training maestro Alan King, and they team up with five-year-old Make Believe gelding Believitanducan.

The selection enjoyed success last time at Ascot under Luke Catton in an apprentice race three weeks ago off 73, and lines up on a mark of 77 today. The selection has won both on the level and over hurdles, typically for his talented trainer, and is evidently in very rude health.

Getting Billy up top now is a big plus and the pair are serial winners. Even though this is a two-miler, being drawn three is still a nice spot to operate from in terms of trip choices.

15:30 - Elements Of Fire @ 11/2

I've previewed the chances of Archie Watson's Elements Of Fire within the ITV live races piece, which you can read by kindly clicking HERE. Thank you!

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £240 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
