Lucky 15 Tips: Lots of fun to be had at super Southwell

A superb Saturday overall as per, with afternoon gems from Newmarket and Haydock nicely covered in our ITV piece. For our Lucky 15 tips then I'm heading to Southwell, and their late afternoon/evening fixture - a stupendous NINE races, kicking in at 16:19.

16:50 - Siouxpersonic @ 1/1

Callum Rodriguez rides for Ed Bethell - a two-year-old Sioux Nation filly who's appeared four times so far.

Siouxpersonic is no world beater but on the evidence of her last run, a Donny nursery 16 days ago, she can win one of these as long as she doesn't lie too far out of her ground.

Late gains have typified her last two spins and at the minimum trip, even on a track as testing as this, you don't want to be set an impossible task.

If decently-placed to challenge she can pounce late back in maiden company and break her duck.

17:25 - Abando @ 6/4

Here's a three-year-old colt shipping in from Germany (July), having its first UK outing for notable trainer Marco Botti. Neil Callan has been booked to ride.

Highly-tried so far - the German Derby included - and this little maiden is surely within reach for the powerful yard now looking after Abando. Not beaten far in two Group heats earlier this year (May and June) and he's been given time by new connections to find his feet in the UK.

Fascinating to see how he gets along.

18:00 - Spirit Lead Me @ 3/1

Claimer Donagh Murphy (7lb) rides this three-year-old Calyx gelding for trainer Richard Hughes.

The booking would appear to be to offset the 6lb hike imposed for Spirit Lead Me winning cosily (3l) at Kempton just three days ago. Connections are striking again while the iron is hot and though he's new to Southwell he's won before at Wolves on Tapeta - same surface as here.

Bright chance of following up while in evident good nick.

19:00 - Jesse Luc @ 4/1

This five-year-old gelded sprinter is a course-and-distance scorer dropping in to Class 5 company - I'm taking the hint.

Mike Murphy trains, and the outstanding Danny Muscutt has been booked to ride. Jesse Luc has been been close the last twice off this mark of 74, including here, and a repeat of either run would make him difficult to beat taking that little step down.

My nap on the card - the best (fingers crossed) saved until last!
