Saturday 18th July 2026, 9:06

Saturday does not lack for racing action, with eight meetings on offer across the UK and Ireland. There's a mixture of flat and jumps action, so there's something for everyone. My Lucky 15 Tips come from Newbury, Market Rasen and Ripon.

You'll find my selections below, along with the rationale behind them.

14:25 Newbury - Baileys Khelstar @ 5/1

Newbury has the pleasure of kicking off this Lucky 15 and it's the second race on the card that has caught my eye. Charlie Johnston-trained Baileys Khelstar has been most impressive this season despite a rocky start at Musselburgh in April.

I think you can forgive that of a horse who had not seen any action since July 2024. This six-year-old gelding quickly got back into the swing of things soon after. He has finished in the top two on his previous two outings at Newbury, with last time out being a C&D success.

He's on a roll at the moment with two wins on the bounce and he arrives here seeking a first career hat-trick.

15:20 Market Rasen - Hello Sweety @ 13/8

Market Rasen presents jumps action on Saturday and there are seven races to look forward to on this card. The fourth contest of the day is a Class 4 handicap over 2m½f.

HELLO SWEETY looks a decent bet here because she is suited to small fields and there are just four runners declared for this one. The five-year-old triumphed at Fakenham over two miles in May before falling just short of success over C&D on her latest outing on 19 June.

She's in a good position to put herself in the mix again over this trip, and the daughter of Sea The Moon already boasts three victories over this distance.

16:12 Newbury - Miss Scott @ 10/11

It's back to Newbury for selection number three. MISS SCOTT has had a respectable start to her career for John & Thady Gosden's yard.

This three-year-old filly won on debut at Leicester (7f) in September and then posted a respectable second at this racecourse last month (1m1f), narrowly losing out by half-a-length to Manaar.

Connections weren't too disheartened by that result and she's expected to return to RG14 with another promising performance.

Miss Scott may still be considered inexperienced but she's a fighter. She'll be asked to raise the bar as she steps up in trip (1m2f) on Saturday, but based on her two outings to date, she can certainly put herself in the mix.

17:03 Ripon - Trucial Pearl @ 15/8

Ripon is where I round off my picks for the day and it's this Class 6 handicap over 1m from which I have made my selection. The penultimate race on the card looks an interesting one as there are several runners who have decent claims.

TRUCIAL PEARL's form has been up and down this season but some of the filly's performances have been impressive, particularly during the Spring. The three-year-old was able to get off the mark at the 12th attempt over C&D on 18 June.

She defeated Hatamoto that day, who went on to win his next two races.

Trucial Pearl had a disappointing fourth at Thirsk last time out as she was caught wide. Michael & David Easterby should feel that she's still in good shape to land another win at Ripon, however.
