It's a relatively busy start to the racing week with five meetings across the UK on Monday. They go jumping at Plumpton and Hereford alongside afternoon Flat racing from Kempton on the Polytrack, while in the evening they race on the Tapeta at Southwell and Wolverhampton.

Below are my Lucky15 selections from across Monday's cards, including lightly-raced improver My Dad Tom for the Richard Hannon team at Southwell.

13:38 Plumpton – Traveling Soldier @ 6/4

The red-hot Olly Murphy-Sean Bowen alliance could strike with TRAVELING SOLDIER in this Extech Cloud Novices' Handicap Chase over just shy of two-and-a-half-miles at Plumpton.

The trainer has a stunning 46 percent strike-rate in recent weeks, while the champion jockey is riding out of his skin.

This seven-year-old has finished in the frame in five of his six starts over fences and has an experience advantage over some of these rivals. He sports first-time blinkers now and, if they have a positive effect, he can add to his win at Market Rasen in July.

16:20 Hereford – Famoso @ 8/1

FAMOSO bids to win back-to-back renewals of the Green Dragon Hotel Hereford Handicap Chase for Matt and Stan Sheppard and the nine-year-old Hereford specialist could be underestimated in the market.

He won this race off a mark of 97 last year and arrived here after an underwhelming hurdles run. It was a similar tale over timber at Stratford in September and he has since been pulled up over fences at Worcester.

He has never achieved much in three runs there but in contrast his figures over this course and distance are 12322142.

He was second here, well held, behind the 127-rated Western General in March and is back at this favoured venue rated 12lb lower with a chance of defending this race.

16:45 Southwell – My Dad Tom @ 9/2

MY DAD TOM was making his handicap debut when second at Yarmouth (6f, good) behind front-running winner Romantic Twilight last month.

Richard Hannon's Profitable colt had plenty of ground to make up inside the final furlong but really started to motor late on for Alec Voikhansky and was denied a diminishing three-quarters-of-a-length at the post, the winner in need of the line when it came.

The step up to 7f ought to suit this lightly-raced youngster on that evidence and a 1lb rise in the ratings doesn't appear likely to prevent him from going very close in what looks a weaker nursery on paper, compared to the Yarmouth race three weeks ago.

Hannon has had more winners at Southwell than anywhere else in 2025 and can add another at this Nottinghamshire venue.

19:00 Wolverhampton – Hoodie Hoo @ 7/2

Charlie Hills should have some confidence that HOODIE HOO can go well at Wolverhampton as the three-year-old bids to improve upon near misses at Nottingham and Southwell (AW) in the last month.

Marco Ghiani's partner was closing all the way to the line in a Class 2 handicap at Nottingham early last month but lost out in a head-bob despite getting the better of some seasoned performers like Aberama Gold.

He finished well again at Southwell but the front-running Ararat wasn't for catching and Hoodie Hoo was amongst a bunch that finished in close proximity behind.

He's off the same mark of 79 now and his turn is surely looming for Ged Mason, Sir Alex Ferguson and company.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £420 for your total £7.50 stake.
