Lucky 15 Tips: Terminology to win on handicap debut at Windsor

Monday 13th July 2026, 8:37

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland Monday, with just the two taking place in the afternoon and the other three providing the evening entertainment. Ayr provides the Flat action in the afternoon and we also have a jumps card from Newton Abbot to look forward to, with racing from Windsor and Lingfield in the evening, while Ireland's only meeting of the day is a competitive Flat meeting at Killarney.

Everyone loves a Lucky 15 so we've tasked our expert with picking out four strong fancies on Monday and among them is a handicap debutant for Archie Watson whose form received a massive boost at Newmarket earlier this week.

16:30 Ayr - Spiritoftheblues @ 2/1

SPIRITOFTHEBLUES left a very good impression when making her debut in a 7f maiden at Ayr last season, despite getting off to a slow start after being outpaced early on. She went on to claim victory by three-and-a-half lengths and was much too good for her rivals that day.

Three of the beaten horses in behind have since gone on to win, most notably Velvet Rhythm, who has won four times already this season for Charlie Johnston.

Things haven't quite gone to plan since and she was well beaten in novices at Kempton in October and at Leicester in May.

It was much more like it when runner-up on handicap debut at Hamilton last time out and the new trip could facilitate further progress in this sphere.

17:20 Windsor - Terminology @ 15/8

Windsor's opening race is a very interesting three-runner nursery and it could develop into quite a tactical affair. There's one runner who stands out in particular, as the Archie Watson-trained TERMINOLOGY brings some very hot form to the table here.

She finished third on debut at Nottingham last month and the winner, Senorita Bonita, finished second in the Queen Mary, before going on to win a Group 2 at Newmarket this week.

Terminology got off the mark at Lingfield next time and a mark of 78 could be generous.

18:00 Killarney - Mai Dahlia @ 7/2

Joseph O'Brien has had a stellar season so far, producing plenty of winners at Royal Ascot, having a horse placed in the Derby and winning the Oaks. He runs MAI DAHLIA here and the daughter of Too Darn Hot has shown plenty in three starts so far.

She was narrowly denied on debut at Naas, finishing third by half-a-length, and was unfortunate to bump into a smart winner over 1m2f at Fairyhouse after that.

She returned to a mile at Naas earlier this month and managed to get off the mark in emphatic style.

The handicapper has given her a mark of 88 but she could be significantly better than that and further progress is anticipated.

19:10 Lingfield - Pilgrim's Progress @ 14/1

Richard Hannon’s PILGRIM'S PROGRESS has lived up to her name so far, showing signs of improvement with each of her three runs to date. Her debut effort was a little underwhelming, but she took a significant step forward when fourth at Newbury after that.

The daughter of Showcasing was only just denied when second by a neck on her most recent start in December and the switch to handicaps can make a big difference.

An opening mark of 68 looks workable and we should start to see what she's really made of.
