Billy Loughnane and Rossa Ryan are among the weighing room stars on show. Bring it on ...

17:30 - Southbank @ 7/2

A Class 6 handicap over 6f, for amateur jocks.

A gentleman who is often in demand for races like this is Simon Walker. Over the past five seasons he's got a highly-respectable 19% winning strike-rate and I fancy he's about to trouble the judge for the first time this year on Chris Gordon's five-year-old Acclamation gelding Southbank.

Our selection is a course-and-distance scorer, is only 2lb higher than his last winning mark (as recently as October), and looked to be coming nicely into form last time 11 days ago, finishing a running-on second at Lingers beaten 2l at this trip/grade.

He raced then off 56, and does so again today. The trainer has had a winner and three places from his last dozen runners, and with Simon having in my book a clear edge on most of the field his chance here is a mighty one.

18:00 - Rose Runner @ 5/2

Three-year-olds go a mile in another Class 6 handicap.

Our hope here is Marco Botti's Roseman colt Rose Runner, having just his fourth career start and progressing very nicely. An uncompetitive debut on this track was followed by a win in a Lingfield novice, and when last seen 22 days ago at Wolves on his first start in handicaps was denied another success by just a head.

The naughty old assessor has popped him up a pound but jockey Luke Catton negates that and more courtesy of his 3lb claim. Nicely drawn in the three box.

19:00 - Palladas @ 4/5

Claimer Conor Planas (3lb) has a real treat in store here - getting the leg up on a Godolphin-owned inmate by Lope De Vega, having his very first start. Charlie Appleby trains, and if this beautifully-bred colt (the dam is by Galileo) doesn't know his job I'll be extremely surprised.

Palladas could be anything; and given his address and breeding is virtually certain to head the market. There's little form to go on and and the opposition includes some promising-looking three-year-olds, but in this potentially cut-above mile maiden I don't want to be on anything else.

The yard are masters with all types of horse and we might just be in for a treat.

20:30 - Paradias @ 10/3

The brilliant Rossa Ryan is here for just two booked rides and this is one of them. An 11f Class 2 handicap, decent prize of £13k, and a horse of Alan King's he's ridden several times in the past - Paradias.

The seven-year-old dual-purpose Kodiac gelding is a very respectable six-from-32 career-wise, and is just a pound higher today than his last winning mark (here, 12 months ago in this very race).

On seasonal reappearance at Wolves on Boxing Day (after a break of 226 days) he failed by just a neck in a similar heat, and his Racing Post rating figure suggests it's about as good a performance as he's ever produced.

Rossa and King are often extremely potent when teaming up and this could well be a lucky last for their supporters.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £184 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
