Lucky 15 Tips: Wolfburg can repeat Boxing Day success

There are three meetings planned across the UK on Wednesday and we have focused on the cards at Catterick and Kempton for our Lucky 15.

Sandy Thomson's Wolfburg won for the first time in nearly two years at Wetherby on Boxing Day and connections should expect another competitive run when he runs at Catterick in the 14:50. Find the rest of my Lucky 15 Tips below.

14:50 Catterick - Wolfburg @ 10/3

Thomson and his team will have been delighted to see Wolfburg land the spoils at Wetherby over the festive period at odds of 14/1.

It has been a rough few years for different connections, with Wolfburg struggling for consistency since his last win in February 2024, which ironically came at Catterick.

He was pulled up three times in four races, finishing 11th and seventh in his other two starts.

Thomson applied headgear and a tongue strap for his win at Wetherby and a repeat of that run will make him tough to stop in this race.

He has only been handed a 6lb rise and he looked at home over the larger obstacles on only his second run over fences, so expect another big effort.

15:20 Catterick - Rukaana @ 2/1

Like Wolfburg, Rukaana can make it back-to-back victories when competing in the Download Raceday Ready Today Handicap Hurdle.

The five-year-old had won twice on the Flat before winning an 11-runner handicap at Windsor. Jonjo and AJ O'Neill were able to capitalise on his reduced mark over hurdles, and he should have more left in the tank.

While a 9lb rise is hefty, the rest of the field have a lot to prove.

15:50 Catterick - Luna Lux @ 6/4

The final race at Catterick could go to Masked Marvel filly, Luna Lux.

The four-year-old is bred to be very handy indeed and she should be an eye-catching newcomer. Anthony Honeyball's yard does very well in bumpers and there is a lack of real competition in this race.

Owners paid €50,000 euros for Luna Lux and Wednesday could be the start of a promising National Hunt career.

16:30 Kempton - Roker Roar @ 8/11

Our final tip comes from the first race at Kempton and Roker Roar has every chance of getting off the mark at the third time of asking.

After finishing last at Goodwood on debut, Andrew Balding's mount stepped up another level when finishing fourth at Newcastle in November.

He was finishing strongly in that race but got squeezed out late. He is bred to do well over middle distance and over 1m3f he should find his best form.

The booking of Oisin Murphy is also a big benefit in Wednesday's opener.
