Lucky 15 Tips: Question could be the answer at Musselburgh

Our expert has picked out four fancies from Musselburgh to consider combining into a Lucky 15 and they include a bang-in-form handicapper for Adam Nicol, who won last time out.

14:50 Magic Gloves @ 7/1

Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore’s thoroughly unexposed mare MAGIC GLOVES had three starts in point-to-points over in Ireland before joining the yard and she was successful on her final attempt at Tattersalls Farm, scoring by a comfortable margin of six lengths.

Connections then snapped her up for £42,000 shortly after and she made her debut under rules in a Kelso novice hurdle in September, where she was third of five and looked in need of the run. She got tired just before the last that day and weakened up the run-in.

Disappointing at Hexham the following month, her fourth on handicap debut over course and distance last time out was a much more encouraging effort. There’s more to come in handicap company and she should be winning in this grade sooner or later.

15:50 Lelantos @ 4/1

Nicky Henderson doesn’t send runners up to Musselburgh too often; in fact, he’s yet to send one there this season and has only had two in the last five campaigns. Both of those have won, so the Nico de Boinville-ridden LELANTOS is defending an unbeaten record.

The 10-year-old returned to winning ways over 3m1f at Huntingdon in November and is currently on just a 4lb higher mark. Whilst it’s noted that he’s perhaps not the most consistent, he has won off higher marks before and should therefore be competitive.

16:20 Jus De Citron @ 15/8

Harry Derham had a winner at Musselburgh’s most recent fixture earlier this month and the lightly raced JUS DE CITRON could add to his tally. The seven-year-old has only had four starts under rules so far and only two of them have come in handicap company.

Winning a Doncaster novice on his first start under rules, he comfortably got the better of Jordans Cross, who has boosted the form by winning three times over fences since.

He made his handicap debut at Kempton on Boxing Day and was a little disappointing, but he improved for the run when trying fences for the first time at Newcastle last month, where he finished third by a length. There’s loads more to come from him in this sphere.

16:50 National Question @ 5/2

It has been a productive campaign so far for the Adam Nicol-trained NATIONAL QUESTION and he already has two wins to his name this season. The first of those came at Newcastle in October over a shorter trip and he kept on well to score by just shy of two lengths.

He got his head in front again at Sedgefield last month and battled on well to hold off the challenge of the runner-up. The handicapper has responded with a 3lb rise, which shouldn’t prove too problematic, and this looks like a very winnable race.
