12:50 Newcastle - Fat Harry @ 9/4
FAT HARRY has been in good form ahead of this 2m4f Class 4 handicap chase at Newcastle. He was a C&D victor here back in November as he made it back-to-back successes, after getting off the mark at Sedgfield earlier in the month. That win should have a positive impact on his return to this track.
An unclean landing from two out at Haydock last time out denied the son of Multiplex a hat-trick, but connections should be confident of a solid recovery on Thursday. Theo Gillard is booked for this ride so he will be tasked of following on from the recent successes of Danny McMenamin.
13:52 Wincanton - Postponed Legacy @ 4/1
After getting off the mark at the 11th attempt, POSTPONED LEGACY is a fitting name for Martin Keighley's five year-old gelding, who is the son of Postponed. He contests this Class 5 handicap hurdle over 1m7f at Wincanton on Thursday and will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories after recent successes at Doncaster and Uttoxeter.
There's a 10lb rise to consider ahead of this race but his performance at Uttoxeter 15 days ago was most impressive and he heads to Wincanton with solid claims, with this being his first appearance at this track.
James Best, who steered him to both recent victories, is back on board here, too.
15:18 Fairyhouse - Yoursimplythebest @ 4/1
Gerard Keane-trained YOURSIMPLYTHEBEST is someone worth keeping a close eye on at Fairyhouse on Thursday. This six-year-old mare has shown great promise on her past three outings, posting 332 places at Sligo and Punchestown (latter two). These races came over 2m4f, 2m41/f and 3m respectively.
The daughter of Jukebox Jury has a lot in the tank which has been showcased in recent months, and connections may be feeling that her maiden victory may not be too far away. She will be reunited with Jordan Gainford in the saddle, who was on board for two her past three runs.
15:27 Ludlow - Gracchus De Balme @ 15/8
I round off my selections for the day at Ludlow for this Class 5 chase over 3m. Ten runners are declared for this contest and one that stands out to me is GRACCHUS DE BALME for Joe O'Shea's yard.
The 10-year-old gelding is making his first appearance since May but he finished the previous season strongly, with two wins in his past three outings at Aintree (the Fox Hunters at the Grand National Festival) and Stratford.
He's a strong contender here and if he can slip back into that sort of form then he could be a difficult player to stop.
