13:15 Fairyhouse - Bambino Fever @ 2/13
Wednesday's picks start at Fairyhouse with a Willie Mullins runner who is expected to be a heavy favourite in the market. It's hardly surprising as BAMBINO FEVER, the daughter of Jukebox Jury, has won the first five of her six starts, including all four over bumpers.
One of those successes came in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in 2025, while the six-year-old mare also claimed a Grade 1 at Punchestown. Finished second on last outing at Naas in December but only by half a length.
Her record precedes her, and it will take something special from this field to deny her victory on Wednesday.
13:55 Lingfield - Athenian Spirit @ 3/1
ATHENIAN SPIRIT will be hoping to get off the mark at the eighth attempt on Wednesday when he contests the 1m handicap at Lingfield. Recent form suggests the three-year-old gelding is not too far away with second-place finishes at Wolverhampton and, most recently, at this course (both 7f) on January 7.
Trainer William Knight should be pleased with his progress in recent months, and the son of Magna Grecia could be set for a big performance here. He holds decent claims off an unchanged mark.
14:40 Newbury - C'est Different @ 11/8
Betfred are paying five places on this race, which is a 3m1/2f Class 4 handicap. There is a stacked field of 17 runners entered for this one, and C'EST DIFFERENT is an appealing selection. The six-year-old gelding is gunning for a fourth successive victory, having recorded triumphs at Carlisle, Chepstow and Market Rasen on his past three starts.
This will be his first outing since November, but that win came after several months away, so he will still hold solid claims ahead of his first appearance at Newbury. The Sam Thomas-trained gelding will take some beating on Wednesday.
18:00 Kempton - Homme De Fer @ 2/1
My final selection comes from Kempton in a 1m Class 6 handicap. HOMME DE FER stands out for me because after he got off the mark at the 10th attempt at Wolverhampton (7f) in December, it didn't take him long to claim a second, winning on his last appearance at Lingfield (7f), also in December.
That latest success was amongst a field of 11 rivals, and so coming up against 10 runners here shouldn't be a problem. His recent form makes him a leading contender heading into Wednesday.
