Lucky 15 Tips: Mino Des Mottes can come out on top

There will hopefully be several meetings on offer on Monday, which would give us plenty to sink our teeth into. Punchestown’s seven-race card appears to be the most competitive of the bunch, and there could be a couple of horses to look out for.
The opening four-year-old maiden could have a few potential Triumph Hurdle types in it, and Willie Mullins’ entries appear to be the most likely candidates. One of them forms part of my Lucky 15 Tips for Monday.

12:48 Punchestown – Mino Des Mottes @ 5/1
Willie Mullins won this race with Highwind in 2024, and he has two opportunities to win it again. French bumper third Madness d’Elle should go under consideration, but the more experienced MINO DES MOTTES gets the nod.
The son of It’s Gino unseated in a bumper on his debut in June but left that run well behind him when winning comfortably at Senonnes-Pouance the following month. Plenty keen enough throughout, which made little difference in the end, and he won well.
Mullins’ four-year-old made his stable and hurdles debut over course and distance on New Year’s Eve, and he showed a good attitude, sticking to his task and keeping on for fourth. That would have been a good learning experience, and he’s entitled to improve plenty for it.
13:48 Punchestown – Bambino Fever @ 1/8
Sometimes the short-priced favourite just isn’t worth taking on, and that is very much the case in this race. BAMBINO FEVER was easily the best horse in the bumper division, and she completed the Grade 1 double at Cheltenham and Punchestown last spring.
Having won a Grade 2 contest at the Dublin Racing Festival beforehand, she was 4/1 to win Cheltenham’s Champion Bumper, and she powered up the hill to score by a length-and-a-half. It’s worth noting that the sixth and ninth from that race have both won over hurdles since.
Clearly, she needed the run when beaten on her first start over hurdles at Naas last month, and the step up in trip could also help. There will be shockwaves across Ireland if she fails to get the job done, and victory is a must.
14:18 Punchestown – Sean Mc @ 13/8
A field of 17 has been declared for this race, but in terms of finding the winner, there appears to be only one candidate. This certainly isn’t the strongest of races, and the lightly raced SEAN MC looks well set to get off the mark.
Trained by Paul Nolan, Sean Mc bumped into some smart horses when running in maiden hurdles, including Ethical Diamond and Koktail Divin. It was a much better effort on his second handicap start at Fairyhouse last time out, where he finished second.
It would be unwise to rule out further progress, as he’s still unexposed in handicap company, and he won’t get a better opportunity than this.
15:48 Punchestown – Simply Natural @ 13/2
The experienced SIMPLY NATURAL could be the one to side with in this contest, especially as she took a massive step forward to finish second by a narrow margin at Naas last time out. She battled well to the line and was just denied in the final strides.
Gavin Cromwell’s mare can build on that performance, and there’s every chance she can go one better here.
The daughter of Spanish Moon won her only start in a point-to-point at Oldtown in February, and there’s definitely more to come from her.
If all four selections won at the quoted prices, a 50p win Lucky 15 would return around £228 for a £7.50 total stake.
