Lucky 15 Tips: Aintree’s exactly where it’s at on Saturday

Aintree is of course our destination for Saturday's Lucky 15 tips. I'll cover and include here the two races ITV are not; plus there are links to two that I've looked at in depth, for our companion ITV piece.

In that way we'll have every race on the Liverpool National card covered nicely courtesy of this and the ITV column, on what I'm sure will be an amazing afternoon of the highest-quality sport. Can't wait!

Lucky 15 tips - Saturday, April 11

Aintree

  • 12:45 - No Questions Asked @ 10/1
  • 13:20 - Hold The Serve @ 11/2
  • 16:00 - Johnnywho @ 12/1
  • 17:00 -  Bass Hunter @ 2/1

*Odds correct as of the time of publication

12:45 - No Questions Asked @ 10/1

The opener is a G1 2m novices' chase, and some mighty yards line up in pursuit of the £67k winner's purse.

The selection is Ben Pauling's eight-year-old gelding No Questions Asked, six-from-13 all told and winner of two of his five steeplechases.

He fluffed his lines at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen 32 days ago but his three preceding runs from November through January were very impressive, including a victory in a Windsor G2.

One of the season's breakthrough stars, King George-winning jockey Ben Jones, has the riding assignment; and courtesy of that poor last run we'll probably get what I consider to be a cracking price, too.

Decent ground looks ideal and I'm very hopeful.

13:20 - Hold The Serve @ 11/2

I've previewed this one in some detail for our companion ITV televised races piece, and my reasoning for inclusion can be found by kindly clicking HERE.

16:00 - Johnnywho @ 12/1

Once again, I've previewed this one in some detail for our companion ITV televised races piece, and my reasoning for selecting this one in the Grand National for 2026 can be found by kindly clicking HERE.

17:00 -  Bass Hunter @ 2/1

The concluding bumper features a horse that ran a 2.75l third to The Mourne Rambler in the Cheltenham Festival equivalent, and any repeat here should make Bass Hunter very difficult to beat.

Chris Gordon's six-year-old gelded son of Derby and Juddmonte winner Authorized took two good races of this nature at both Newbury and Ascot prior to Chelters, and is obviously a very exciting prospect.

Freddie Gordon has been doing the steering so far but connections reach out to the brilliant Harry Cobden now, and the combination looks the part and then some for this meeting finale.

He's got a little more experience than some; three points including one win, and those three bumper spins, which in the context of this is very useful. Chris Gordon has had three winners from his last 17 runners and Harry's in reasonable order too - six winners in his last 31 mounts.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £2,500 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
