Lucky 15 Tips: Big guns are primed at Ayr on Tuesday

Sean Bowen and Gordon Elliott are in tandem on Tuesday afternoon up at Ayr, and the chances of them visiting the winners' enclosure at some point would be pretty decent I'll wager.
Ideal territory then for our Lucky 15 tips, and after a very respectable showing last week it would be great to kick off with more successes to report. Willie Mullins is sending over a bumper horse, too - winner of his sole point by 20l no less! Should be a belter, and their seven-race programme kicks in at 13:35.
Lucky 15 tips - Tuesday, February 10
Ayr
- 13:35 - So Many Roads @ 3/1
- 14:35 - Nopresentliketime @ 2/1
- 15:05 - Big Stage @ 9/4
- 16:05 - Jirko @ 9/2
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
13:35 - So Many Roads @ 3/1
Hawick trainer Don Whillans runs this nine-year-old Sulamani gelding and has booked one of the best conditionals around to ride - Charlie Maggs.
So Many Roads is two-from-16 all told, and arrives fresh from a win here 39 days ago in a similar affair at this trip. Just a head in it at the line, so the penalty is only 3lb for this, up to a mark of 95.
He's previously won off 94 and has been rated as high as 102, so in evidently good order and with one of the best available in the plate I'm thinking a follow-up is no forlorn hope.
14:35 - Nopresentliketime @ 2/1
Time to associate ourselves with two of the biggest names in the sport - trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Sean Bowen. They combine here with a six-year-old gelded son of King George and Royal Ascot hero Doyen - namely Nopresentliketime.
One run only so far, a Fairyhouse bumper on New Year's Day, finishing just over 3l adrift of the winner, fading late. That run will doubtless have done him the world of good and the trainer/jockey combination often run riot at tracks like Perth as well as here, when raiding nice little midweek pots.
Some promising maiden hurdlers oppose, including from fellow Irish trainers, but I wouldn't swop.
15:05 - Big Stage @ 9/4
Let's go to the County Meath well once again, this time with Gordon's eight-year-old Walk In The Park gelding Big Stage.
Just one win in 19 starts, but he ran well in a handicap over 3.5f further at Punchestown, a proper Grade 1 track, on New Year's Eve; and the third that day, less than a length ahead of our selection, has since won a £14k prize at the same venue.
He's rather naughtily up 4lb from the last day but I could see Sean being very positive on this one and winning for the first time since May 2024.
16:05 - Jirko @ 9/2
The selection is a seven-year-old Balko gelding, trained by Nick Alexander in Fife, and ridden by regular pilot Bruce Lynn.
Jirko is in just about the best form of his career right now, and last time out 28 days ago over course-and-distance he finished just 4l off Big Zouk, now rated 102.
Jirko gets to race off the same mark, 89, and in the context of this contest has a decent racing weight of 11st 3lb. This is his fourth run since reappearing for the season in November and it might be the perfect time to catch him.
Out of interest, Willie's bumper horse runs in the last (16:35) and is Goulmichette; trading at around 4/5, which can of course fluctuate between now and the off. Fascinating to see how he fares.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £275 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
