Lucky 15 Tips: Mad dash to Chelmsford on the cards

I hope 2026 is treating you well, and fingers firmly crossed that it proves to be a good 'un. For Friday's Lucky 15 tips we're visiting Chelmsford, and its Polytrack surface, for a seven-race programme that kicks in at 12:42.
Competitive racing looks assured and it's a very fair, galloping track with time to get organised and mount your challenge up the straight.
Enjoy.
Lucky 15 Tips - Friday, January 2
Chelmsford
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
13:12 - Cardinal Point @ 9/4
Michael Bell trains, for a Middleham Park Racing syndicate, and Hector Crouch is on board.
The four-year-old Dubawi filly Cardinal Point has two wins from 16 starts to her name, and produced a fine performance here last time 22 days ago over this 1m 6f trip.
She went down by just a length and has been raised a solitary pound, up to a mark of 67. She's in-form, and in an open heat has a bright chance. It's telling that connections return to this venue, and I'm encouraged by it.
13:42 - Mad Dash @ 7/4
Beautifully named, by Showcasing out of Miss Dashwood - herself a product of the mighty Arc winner Dylan Thomas.
Mad Dash is a three-year-old filly trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere, with Callum Hutchinson doing the steering. Two spins so far - a debut under Oisin Murphy at Kempton (beaten just over 5l), then last time under today's pilot, a good second at Windsor in July when last seen.
An absence then of 160 days to overcome but from a yard of this calibre that's not viewed as a problem. Will surely pick up a maiden on breeding and her trainer's address alone - why not today.
14:42 - Thanh Nam @ 13/8
This three-year-old colt lines up over one mile looking for a hat-trick after recent wins here, and at Wolverhampton.
Thanh Nam is two-from-nine all told, and is up 4lb for that latest 1.25l success 18 days ago. Being a course-and-distance scorer is a big plus, and trainer James Owen had a winner in the bumper at Cheltenham yesterday.
Sean Levey gets the leg up for the first time and while in such rude order can go in again. Can be tucked away (drawn in the one box) and come with a steady rattle up the inside down the home straight.
15:42 - Time Tested @ 9/4
Newmarket handler Michael Bell once again, this time represented by a five-year-old Time Test gelding out of a Cape Cross mare - Time Tested.
The selection is an excellent five-from-13 lifetime, and after a little break of 57 days won nicely here under this jockey at the end of October.
After what's now a further interval of some 64 days he reappears looking to defy a 4lb hike, and it seems this campaign strategy is very much a deliberate policy.
He's up a notch into Class 4 company but courtesy of that last career-best effort he's earned it.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £120 for a £7.50 total stake.
