Lucky 15 Tips: Mossy to book his Supreme ticket

We've got three meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Sunday and, while the quantity is low, the quality certainly is not. The Dublin Racing Festival continues at Leopardstown and the Irish Champion Hurdle is the feature race there, while Musselburgh's Cheltenham trials card has some very good prize money on offer.

Our resident expert has taken a look at Sunday's racing and picked out four fancies for a Lucky 15 and they include a Harry Derham-trained horse at Musselburgh, who will be looking to rubber-stamp his place at Cheltenham in March.

12:55 Musselburgh - Mossy Fen Road @ 1/2

Irish point-to-point winner MOSSY FEN ROAD scored with plenty in hand on his first start under rules in a Wetherby bumper back in February.

Connections threw him in the deep end a bit at Aintree next time, however, and he failed to fire in a Grade 2 in the spring. They have been much more patient this season however and that tactic appears to be paying off.

He has won a couple of lesser novice hurdles and was particularly impressive at Chepstow last time out and the slight step up in grade should be no problem for him.

13:25 Musselburgh - Queens Gamble @ 3/1

It could be a good day for young trainer Derham and he appears to have targeted this meeting with a strong team. QUEENS GAMBLE was a very promising bumper horse and she went on to achieve Listed success as a novice hurdler too.

She won both of her starts in novice company, including the Byerley Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Taunton, but missed the rest of the season through injury. Producing a good effort in the Gerry Fielden on her return, the mare ran a cracker to finish second.

Derham's mare appeared to need the run badly when well beaten on chasing debut in a Listed race at Bangor-on-Dee and the return to a longer trip is also a plus.

13:40 Leopardstown - Ballyfad @ 10/3

Gordon Elliott will be looking to hold off the daunting challenge of Willie Mullins as he's currently leading the way in the trainers' table. Grade 1 wins will certainly help on that front and BALLYFAD could be the one to side with here.

He cost €175,000 at the sales, off the back of a four-length win in an Irish point at Fairyhouse and paid some of his fee back when winning a Down Royal bumper on his rules debut in November.

Ballyfad won again at Punchestown and was very impressive here over hurdles at Christmas. Elliott's gelding retains loads of potential and a big run is expected.

15:40 Musselburgh - Ahoy Senor @ 16/1

Things haven't quite gone to plan with AHOY SENOR in the last 18 months or so, but the switch back to hurdles could reignite the spark, despite the fact that he was pretty below-par once again at Newbury last time out.

A handicap mark of 145 looks rather appealing, bearing in mind he was a Grade 1 winner over hurdles as a novice. Retirement could be on the horizon soon if he continues to regress but this is an interesting experiment and a return to form could be on the cards.
