Lucky 15 Tips: King’s School can reign supreme

There is racing all over the country in Britain with flat meetings taking place at Epsom, Ffos Las and Newcastle as well as a competitive card from the Curragh, where there are two Group Three’s and the Irish Cesarewitch. 

For our Lucky 15 tips we have provided a selection from each of the four meetings.

14:05 Curragh - White Sand Beach @ 5/6

White Sand Beach was picked up late on by La Fogarta on debut but the daughter of Dubawi can go one place better for the Aidan O’Brien team in this maiden.

There was no shame in playing second fiddle to La Forgarta, who had already had the experience of two runs and been fourth in a Group Three, and she is unlikely to bump into anything of that calibre here.

O’Brien has won this race in four of the last five years and White Sand Beach, having recorded a Racing Post Rating of 84 on racecourse debut, should maintain that dominance.

14:30 Ffos Las - Lavender Gold @ 15/8

Lavender Gold made big improvement from run one to two and David Menuisier’s well-bred juvenile can step forward again to shed the maiden tag at the third time of asking.

The son of Victor Ludorum was well-backed on debut when finishing seventh in a red-hot York maiden and built on that promise with a third-place finish at Windsor last time out.

That form has worked out well, with winner Explosion since bolting up on handicap debut off a mark of 79, and he finished strongly over a mile on soft ground on that occasion.

With testing conditions expected again at Ffos Las, Lavender Gold may simply outstay his rivals and he doesn’t have much to find with likely favourite Astrazar. 

14:45 Newcastle - King’s School @ 10/3

There should be a strong gallop to aim at in this seven-furlong contest, with Highland Olly one that likes to get on with things, and that should pay to the strengths of last-time-out course-and-distance winner King’s School.

Gemma Tutty’s charge has been raised 4Ib for that recent victory at Newcastle but it was a dominant success and he remains only 1Ib higher than his highest winning mark.

The talented Warren Fentiman is able to take off 3Ib, just as he did last time out, and if the gaps open he should be finishing stronger than most for a stable that have seen their horses run consistently well of late.

15:30 Epsom - Give It To Me Oj @ 6/4

Course form can count for plenty on an undulating track such as Epsom and that bodes well for Give It To Me Oj in his bid to follow up a comfortable success 17 days ago.

Gary and Josh Moore’s four-year-old got in a lovely rhythm on the front end to make up that day and, while he has been raised 7Ib, Ashley Lewis takes off 5Ib and it is likely that this Apprentices' Derby Handicap has always been the plan.

If he doesn’t get too much pace pressure from his rivals then it should be plain-sailing for Give It To Me Oj, who is a 143-rated hurdler so should still have some wriggle room off his flat rating of 85.
