Lucky 15 Tips: We’re off to Kempton – Wednesday’s looking good

A good-looking seven-race Polytrack get-together at Kempton provides the platform for Wednesday's Lucky 15 tips. Some of our top jocks are in attendance and it should be a cracker.

17:37 - Gavriel @ 10/3

The famous Strawbridge silks, Team Gosden (24% strike-rate in the last 14 days), and jockey Rab Havlin.

The selection is Gavriel, a two-year-old colt by Frankel out of a Selkirk mare - the latter-named a magnificent miler in these very colours back in the day.

Just the one spin so far, 20 days ago at Sandown. Running green, Gavriel showed plenty of promise (beaten 4.75l), and will certainly know more about the task in hand today.

Havlin was on top last time too which is very handy. Beautifully bred (the mare Thistle Bird was smart, too) with typical Strawbridge family ties, he's the one they've all got to beat for me.

19:07 - Tuesday's Child @ 10/3

Trainer George Boughey and jockey Billy Loughnane combine, as they so often do - invariably to great effect!

Tuesday's Child tackles 7f in this fillies' handicap, and the three-year-old daughter of Zoustar shoulders a 6lb penalty for winning here eight days ago, over a mile.

George has only had the filly since the start of the month (ex-William Haggas) and the win represented a big step forward in terms of form (it was her fifth career start).

Further gains could well be forthcoming and stepping up in grade today we're going to find out much more about her potential; which could be considerable.

Fascinating heat.

19:37 - Advancing @ 7/2

A three-year-old Lope De Vega gelding now, a winner at this track on debut, having just his fourth career start.

Advancing is trained by James Ferguson at HQ, and the excellent Danny Muscutt rides. Twenty days ago he recorded a career-best at Sandown at a furlong less than this 1m 3f trip, producing his best work late; and this additional acreage should suit nicely.

20:37 - Karthon @ 5/2

Another tried and trusted combination - trainer Andrew Balding and jockey Oisin Murphy.

The three-year-old New Bay gelding Karthon is still looking for win number one on what will be his eighth career start, but dropping down to this Class 6 level his turn looks to be close at hand.

Last time out eight days ago, here, Karthon was beaten 1.25l by a horse following up a recent win on the turf at Beverley. Similar trip today with just that slight ease in grade, the portents are good for his chances of getting that precious first W on his CV.

Decent draw in the four box, too.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
