Lucky 15 Tips: Scottish flavour for Tuesday’s fancies

And so ended a glorious little break that enabled me to take in Ombudsman's imperious Juddmonte International romp at York, among other fine performances of note. For my first Lucky 15 tips foray for a wee while then I'm heading to Musselburgh, and a super-competitive six-race card that kicks in at 14:20.

14:20 - Magic Boy @ 4/1

Nigel Tinkler trains this three-year-old Acclamation gelding in North Yorkshire, and Rowan Scott is on board for the first time.

Three runs so far for Magic Boy in novice and maiden company, and here's another opportunity to lose that maiden tag, stepping up to a mile from 6f.

His sire was all about sprint speed but there's some Group-winning form at a mile on the dam's side through her sire Amaron. His veteran trainer is a super-shrewd operator and I'm thinking that this opportunity will have been carefully plotted.

15:20 - Beaumadier @ 5/2

Modest handicappers go 5f and this is the first of a couple of interesting raiders from Mark Loughnane's Worcestershire base.

Beaumadier is a five-year-old gelding by a top Australian sprinter with just one win to his name so far after 25 runs. That was achieved on the all-weather at Newcastle in January but he's been in excellent, consistent form of late and on a mark of 55 is just a pound more than for that previous success.

A deserved second victory could well be on the cards, and the excellent Joe Leavy rides - once again, for the first time.

16:20 - Melissa Honey @ 3/1

Lincolnshire trainer Michael Herrington has had 25 winners so far this campaign and another could be forthcoming here in the shape of Melissa Honey.

The three-year-old Showcasing filly is still looking for win number one after seven starts but she's getting mighty close. Last time at Haydock 17 days ago she endured a troubled passage late in the piece and did well to get to within 2.25l of the winner.

With luck in running today I expect her to prevail for jockey Tom Eaves, who's ridden her a couple of times in the past.

16:50 - Sophiesticate @ 11/10

We're with the deadly old firm of trainer Jim Goldie and jockey Paul Mulrennan in the lucky last, as their six-year-old War Command mare Sophiesticate looks to defy the steadier of 10st over 1m 4.5f.

The selection is three-from-38 all told, and has won here before at this very trip. Form-wise her last three spins read 322, and she steps up in distance this afternoon after racing predominantly of late over 10f.

On the evidence of her last effort at Ayr eight days ago as she was making late gains it seems a perfectly logical step to take. Just love the pair mentioned above - they have winners, they're box-office, they make stuff happen. Just what you need.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
