Lucky 15 Tips: Letos no joker while Southwell set to get Groovy

There are three meetings across Britain and Ireland on Sunday afternoon, with the action kicking off at Southwell at 12:00, while there are two other jumps meetings at Carlisle and Navan.

12:00 Southwell - Kamsinas @ 8/11

The opening beginners’ chase is an interesting clash between two useful hurdlers who both ran well in defeat on their debut over fences, but KAMSINAS looks best placed to get off the mark.

Rated 138 over hurdles, the eight-year-old went down by just a neck at Ludlow to Listed-winning mare Wyenot, who was in receipt of 7lb, and he may have won had he jumped any of the last three better than he did.

It resulted in a career-best Racing Post Rating of 145, which is 7lb clear of his hurdles best.

He’s entitled to improve from that initial experience and, if jumping more fluently than last time, he can go one better than last time.

13:00 Southwell - Groovy Blue @ 9/4

GROOVY BLUE hasn’t quite lived up to the promise he showed when winning a bumper, but it looks like he has lots more to come over fences if his debut is anything to go by.

The six-year-old jumped well on the whole when finishing three lengths behind the winner at Sedgefield last time in what has turned out to be a hot little contest.

Winner Fat Harry comfortably followed up next time and was then beaten less than a length off 14lb, while the second also scored on his following start.

He was entitled to need that first start in 184 days, should show the benefit of the experience and looks well treated off a 4lb higher mark given how well the form has worked out.

13:40 Carlisle - Letos @ 9/4

Danny Mullins rode a winner for his mum at Cheltenham on Friday and can land one for dad Tony on the progressive LETOS before heading back to Ireland.

Placed over hurdles and fences in France, the sizeable five-year-old looked stylish when winning a Listed 2m4f handicap hurdle at Naas last time and that form has been emphatically franked by the third, who comfortably won his next two starts.

He travelled strongly though that contest in the manner of one who would cope with higher mark and, although he has stamina to prove over this longer distance, his trainer believes that he wants three miles, which is backed up by his pedigree. He could have lots more to come.

13:50 Navan - May Call You Back @ 2/1

It’s interesting that Willie Mullins has just one representative on Sunday. That is MAY CALL YOU BACK, who lines up in the 2m handicap chase (13:50).

She returned from a break in October to win a Tramore handicap chase, doing well to come out on top in a bobbing finish despite looking as though she would improve for the run, before taking advantage of a 1lb lower mark back over hurdles at Gowran Park last time.

She pulled almost 12 lengths clear of a subsequent winner with one who was beaten just half a length off a 4lb higher mark and was value for more than the three-quarter-length winning margin suggests, too.

She drops back in trip now back chasing, which looks a good move given that she’s unbeaten in three starts at around two miles over fences but has been beaten in her two starts over further.

It’s highly unlikely that she has reached her ceiling after a 6lb rise.
