Lucky 15 Tips: Fabulous Thirsk card provides Saturday’s L15

It's never a chore to take in a Saturday afternoon at beautiful Thirsk. Their seven-race card kicks in at 14:20, and with the likes of Paul Mulrennan and Hollie Doyle present a superbly entertaining time looks assured.

14:20 - Dunkeld Dreamer @ 5/1

Karl Burke-trained two-year-old Coulsty filly, getting weight being the only female in the line-up.

It's an ordinary nursery but there's nothing ordinary about the Burke yard. Shane Gray rides Dunkeld Dreamer - as he did on her debut in June (never sighted, at Wetherby).

She won one of these at Beverley in July off 56, and ran well under a 7lb penalty at the same track last time, 7 days ago, going under by just 2l.

Steps up to a mile here, sire is a big sprint influence, but she's also out of a Sea The Stars mare; so this trip, only a small change, should be no issue whatsoever.

15:25 - River Spey @ 15/8

Oisin Orr takes the mount here for Upper Lambourn handler Ed Walker (21% strike-rate in the last 14 days).

River Spey looks to break its maiden in this restricted novice, and has shown plenty of promise in his four runs to date.

The gelded son of Sergei Prokofiev took in a valuable nursery at York's Ebor meeting when last seen 17 days ago and was beaten just 0.75l, 'enjoying' a difficult passage late on in a big field.

Since being gelded after two 'ok' runs his form has taken on a new dimension entirely. Handsome compensation awaits? My nap of the meeting - and runs in those famous Fitri Hay silks. Up 2lb for his York heroics.

16:00 - Orchid @ 3/1

George Boughey raids from HQ with this three-year-old Blue Point filly who's won her last two - including last time back in April on handicap debut, off a mark of 85, at Wolves.

The absence since is a slight concern but George is a tip-top practitioner and she must defy a 4lb hike this afternoon. Fine 5lb claimer Jack Callan negates that rise and in a fascinating contest featuring some good yards she can come out on top.

Orchid is having just spin number five all told and she's certainly going the right way.

17:05 - Ancient Myth @ 10/3

Trainer David O'Meara again, with a four-year-old gelding by Derby hero Camelot out of a Fastnet Rock mare.

Ancient Myth won here last time five weeks ago off a mark of 72, and bids to follow-up off a 4lb higher perch. He's nicely progressive, and that last effort was a career-best.

Sticks to 12f for this, competing for the famous Hambleton Cup, a race that traces back over 300 years. David Nolan has the riding assignment, and he's been on board on a couple of previous occasions too.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
