Lucky 15 Tips: Break Point can shatter his rivals at Perth

We have a fairly busy Monday on our hands this week, with five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, and there’s something to cater to everyone’s tastes. Our entertainment kicks off at Lingfield in the afternoon, and they have offered up a bumper nine-race card. Perth provides some competitive National Hunt action, whilst Windsor’s usual Monday fixture also takes place in the afternoon.

Ireland is represented by a Jumps fixture from Galway, which finishes in the evening, and Newcastle’s all-weather card brings the action to a close. In Monday's Lucky 15 Tips, I’ve picked out four fancies who could come out on top.

13:52 Lingfield – Shumus @ 6/5

This appears to be a very competitive novice for the grade, and all five runners have some sort of chance. Last-time-out winner Regal Charm looks worth taking on, however, and Charles Hills’ SHUMUS could be the one to side with.

A little unlucky when third on debut at Windsor, she ran on fairly well after being short of room at a key stage. She’s entitled to improve for the run now, and you would imagine she’ll be capable of going close with some better luck in-running this time around.

The trip is clearly no problem, and although she’ll probably get further in time, the daughter of Sea The Stars should have no problem winning over 1m2f.

15:10 Perth – Break Point @ 2/1

BREAK POINT has turned a corner over hurdles since joining the Olly Murphy yard this summer. He was disappointing on his hurdling debut for previous connections and didn’t make it further than the first flight over hurdles after that.

Second by a short head on stable debut at Uttoxeter in July, he was only just denied by a subsequent winner and probably would have held on if settling better in the early stages. It was a much better display, and he made no mistake over course and distance next time.

Scriabin was back in third that day, and he’s in opposition once again, but Break Point should confirm the form, despite carrying a 7lb penalty.

15:40 Perth – Hardy Diamond @ 2/1

Gordon Elliott is a regular visitor to Perth, and he’s sending over a strong team on Monday. Amongst his best chances is the lightly raced chaser HARDY DIAMOND, who managed to get off the mark over fences at Killarney when last seen.

He had previously won a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle in good style last summer but ran poorly in his next three starts, so connections implemented a switch to fences.

It was a game effort at Killarney last time out, and he saw out the extended 3m1f trip well.

A solid second here over a shorter trip before that, it seems likely that there’s plenty more to come at this sort of level, and three miles is a much more suitable trip.

16:58 Lingfield – Reporter @ 8/1

Michael Attwater is winless from 19 runners in the last fortnight, but REPORTER could be set to reverse his fortunes now.

Placing in three of his six all-weather starts, it was a good effort when third on turf at Chepstow last time out.

He was narrowly denied over 7f at Newcastle as a two-year-old, and 6f shouldn’t be a problem with that in mind.

The son of Wootton Bassett should be capable of winning more races, and this looks like a good opportunity to add a second success to his tally.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
