Lucky 15 Tips: Away can sail to victory at Worcester

We’ve had an exciting weekend of racing action, with Irish Champions Weekend and Doncaster’s St Leger Festival, and we return to normalcy on Monday. There are four meetings to look forward to across Britain, but no Irish representation.

The good news is that there’s something to cater to everyone’s tastes, with Thirsk and Brighton providing the Flat turf action. Worcester hosts a very competitive National Hunt card and Kempton’s all-weather offering takes us through the evening.

14:00 Worcester - Sail Away @ 13/2

There’s £22.6k on offer for Worcester’s feature race and the 2m4f Class 2 event looks thoroughly competitive. Dan Skelton runs three and nine-year-old SAIL AWAY could be set to come out on top.

He returned to winning ways with a dominant success over 3m1f at Aintree in May and although the shorter trip here perhaps isn’t ideal, it doesn’t scupper his chances.

Harry Atkins comes in for the ride and his 7lb claim could also come in handy. The handicapper had put Sail Away up 4lb for his latest success but that won’t be an issue thanks to his rider. Further success could be on the card.

16:20 Thirsk - Urban Sky @ 33/1

URBAN SKY was a winner on debut at Hamilton last season and he showed a good attitude to pass Simply Blue. He had to overcome an awkward start and looked very green at one stage but still managed to come out on top, with that win coming for previous connections.

Highly tried after that, he took on The Lion In Winter in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes next time but was well beaten on the day. It was a similar story in a valuable sales race at the Curragh after that and a drop in grade had to be on the agenda.

Low grade handicaps could be the answer, despite the fact that he has struggled in two starts in this sphere. The son of Belardo has fallen significantly down the weights and it's only a matter of time until he's competitive once again.

16:25 Kempton - Port Of London @ 10/11

It wasn’t to be for John & Thady Gosden’s PORT OF LONDON on debut at Windsor in July. He was slowly into stride and William Buick had to hurry him up with four furlongs or so to go, which is never a good sign, and he weakened quickly in an underwhelming display.

Leaving that performance right behind him on the all-weather at Southwell next time, he bumped into a Charlie Appleby-trained debutant that day and stuck to his task well, finishing second by a length-and-a-half.

A similar performance could well be enough to win this potentially weaker race although his profile suggests further improvement is likely.

16:55 Kempton - Dancing Flower @ 3/1

Charlie Appleby is operating at a strike-rate of 39 per cent at Kempton so far this year and a big run is expected from the once-raced filly DANCING FLOWER. There’s lots to like about her pedigree and it’ll be a surprise if she doesn’t get off the mark soon.

Third on debut at Newmarket in July, she was inconvenienced by the draw that day but stayed on nicely in the end.

The form is working out very nicely, with a couple of subsequent winners coming out of it already, and she can follow suit here.
