Kempton Park Tips: Three to follow from Wednesday’s card

Wednesday’s evening meeting at Kempton Park starts at 17:40 and finishes up after seven races at 20:40.

Among the picks for the action at the Sunbury-on-Thames venue is Zivaniya in the opener, who is back after a four-month break, while Three Yorkshiremen is a lively contender in the finale after a recent eye-catching outing at Wolverhampton. Read on for my Kempton Park tips.

17:40 - Zivaniya @ 7/2

A previous course and distance winner, ZIVANIYA was a disappointing fifth when last seen at Newcastle in February but he is well handicapped for this opening contest at Kempton - the Racing Post Celebrates Thake-And-Smith's 60th Birthdays Apprentice Handicap.

Following a four-month break, the five-year-old should be a contender in this seven-strong contest, especially if he rediscovers the sort of form that saw him finish a close third here on his penultimate run.

More was expected of him at Newcastle last time and after a bright start to the race, he weakened inside the final furlong and came in fifth of six.

However, two victories at Kempton in March last year underline Zivaniya's credentials at this venue.

19:40 - Leadenhall Street @ 6/1

A winner at Southwell in February when sent off at 8/1, LEADENHALL STREET catches the eye when assessing the 11 runners set to line up for this handicap, which is the stand-out race at Kempton on Wednesday.

The three-year-old was a good third of nine in a 7f handicap here just 14 days ago and, dropping back down to 6f, this could well be a race that suits for the James Fanshawe-trained three-year-old, who approaches this race with plenty of respect.

Obvious dangers include Aparajeo, who ran in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood last year, and Xanthe, who was victorious at Ascot on her debut last May.

20:40 - Three Yorkshiremen @ 11/2

In the finale at Kempton, THREE YORKSHIREMEN may be in a great position to resume winning ways after impressing when finishing third at Wolverhampton last time.

That was his best display for a while after struggling during previous outings at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City.

The polytrack is clearly Three Yorkshiremen's preferred surface and this 12-strong handicap offers a good opportunity for the selection to record a first victory since his success at Chelmsford in April 2024.
