Horse Racing Tips: Easterby runner can Breeze to a win

There’s some top-class action just around the corner with the Betfred Derby and Oaks in the next few days but in the meantime, there are winners to be found on Wednesday afternoon.

There’s Flat action from the Curragh, Ripon and Nottingham as well as jumps cards from Warwick and Newton Abbot. We have picked out three horses to follow from across the card on Wednesday including a runner that should relish the recent rain that has arrived in Yorkshire.

17:10 Curragh - Kula Bula Boyo @ 50/1

It takes a bit of imagination to see Kula Bula Boyo getting his head in front at the Curragh on Wednesday but Kieran Cotter’s representatives often come on markedly from their first runs and this three-year-old travelled quite nicely before emptying out between the one and two furlong pole on debut at Cork.

He showed he handled slow ground that day and left the impression that a drop in trip may suit, something that his pedigree also suggests (half-brother to a winner over this trip in Germany).

He could be worth chancing each-way at what are likely to be reasonable odds.

19:42 Ripon - Bay Breeze @ 11/2

He hasn’t fully fired in two runs so far this campaign but there are a few reasons to think that Bay Breeze will be returning to form on Wednesday evening.

Tim Easterby’s runners nearly always take a start or two to get going after the off-season and that’s been the case for this horse in recent seasons. He was never going to be suited by the step up to seven furlongs last time out, particularly at a stiff track like Carlisle so there are a few reasons to think he’ll be bouncing back to form over his preferred trip.

Perhaps most notably, he now finds himself on his lowest-ever mark in a handicap and all of his best recent form is on soft ground, so conditions look to be in his favour too. The return of stable jockey Dave Allan looks like a positive to his chance and a high draw on the straight track at Ripon is often an advantage, particularly for horses ridden prominently like Bay Breeze.

The return to Ripon will do no harm given that he’s a four-time course-and-distance winner and all things considered, he’s a bit overpriced, despite the long losing run.

20:12 Ripon - Wen Moon @ 9/4

Ben Haslam has his string in cracking form so far this campaign and one that looks ready to score again is Wen Moon.

Slow ground is the key to this son of Mehmas so the rain expected at Ripon before racing is certainly in his favour and he showed he retained plenty of his old ability when going close on unsuitable ground at Carlisle last time out.

This prominent racer looks like a worthy favourite for this event given that there’s not a lot of pace in the race and this previous course-and-distance winner can go well in what looks like a weak race.
