14:25 Yarmouth - Dark Side Thunder @ 4/1

The opening 6f handicap at Yarmouth on Wednesday is named in honour of Chris Dwyer's five-time course winner, Sea Dear, whose owners are represented by the Jessica Macey-trained DARK SIDE THUNDER.

The six-year-old has a good strike-rate for a horse of his ability, winning eight of his 36 starts, most recently over this course and distance in May off a mark of 71.

He's just 2lb higher at present and should give a good account, having finished in the money in six of his previous seven appearances at this seaside track.

He's lightly raced with ease underfoot on turf, but has won on good to soft and has done particularly well on Tapeta, which wouldn't be dissimilar.

16:00 Yarmouth - Running Lion @ 10/3

John and Thady Gosden are triple-handed in this Listed feature through Life Is Beautiful, Rainbows Edge and RUNNING LION.

The latter is a hard horse to predict, but she sets the standard on ratings and could well bounce back to form in first-time blinkers, now back at a more realistic level.

The five-year-old grey mare is winless this year and has been heavily beaten in Group 1s the last twice, most recently in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. However, she'd posted some solid efforts in defeat before that, running to Racing Post Ratings of 108 and 111 at Haydock and Royal Ascot respectively.

She'll have no issue with the forecast soft ground.

Running Lion

16:45 Sandown - Sir William @ 2/1

The form of the William Haggas yard has been nothing short of outstanding in recent weeks, and whilst SIR WILLIAM is 3lb higher than when touched off at Newbury last month, he had excuses for that defeat and may prove up to the task.

The selection, a son of Night Of Thunder, has managed just one win in 11 starts so far in his career, but he's made steady progress this term, particularly of late, winning off a mark of 72 at Windsor before going down by a short-head off 76 at Newbury.

He's now up to 79, but he refused to settle early on under Tom Marquand on that occasion, so he deserves credit for almost holding on from the lightly raced King Al.

He's done the majority of his racing this year on good, but he went close on soft last year, so he will have no excuses ground-wise.

16:45 Sandown - Winner
Sir William
