There’s lots of action on the racing front on Tuesday, with five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland. With both Flat and National Hunt fare on the agenda, there’s a little something for every racing fan to enjoy.

My horse racing tips for the day includes a thoroughly-unexposed Paddy Twomey runner who should be going close at Gowran Park.

18:07 Gowran Park - Moody @ 5/4

The first of Gowran’s Listed contests is the 1m6f Vintage Tipple Stakes, for which there will be a field of 10 and a prize fund of €50,000 on offer. It looks like a fairly open contest and Paddy Twomey’s MOODY looks like a very serious candidate here.

This four-year-old has only had three starts so far and she doesn’t have a massive amount to find, according to the ratings. Her first two starts came in France for Andre Fabre, and she finished second at Compiegne before going one better at Clairefontaine in July.

Twomey’s filly made a winning start to her career in Ireland at Cork last month, taking the Listed Noblesse Stakes by half a length. She was very strong at the finish that day and shapes as if the step up in trip will suit. There’s plenty more to come from her.

18:38 Gowran Park - Faiyum @ 8/13

Ger Lyons’ FAIYUM was unraced as a two-year-old but progressed quickly the ranks at three. She started off in a Naas maiden last March and she produced a very professional display to score easily, kicking just shy of three lengths clear of the runner-up.

A nicely-bred daughter of Frankel, she went on to follow up at Killarney before connections decided to step her up in grade. Lyons’ filly acquitted herself well in a Group 3 contest at Naas next time and was a fair second, with a big gap back to the third-placed horse.

Faiyum returned to winning ways with a very commanding display in a course and distance Group 3 in September. Making all the running on that occasion, she pulled further and further clear once Colin Keane asked her to kick and scored by seven lengths.

She appeared to need the run when finishing third in a Group 3 at the Curragh on seasonal debut, so improvement is expected, and the drop in grade will also help.

18:47 Hereford - Chavez @ 12/1

CHAVEZ has moved around a fair amount and the 10-year-old joined Venetia Williams’ yard last season. He started off with Paul Nicholls, for whom he showed significant promise. Winning a Chepstow bumper on his rules debut, he also won an Ascot maiden hurdle nicely.

Harry Cobden was positive aboard the son of Yeats on that occasion and he stayed on well to score by seven-and-a-half lengths. Switching to Willie Mullins after that, he was an impressive winner of a Fairyhouse beginners’ chase but failed to kick on subsequently.

The veteran remains lightly raced for his age, especially in handicaps, and a mark of 120 looks very workable on the evidence of his best form.
