14:47 Beverley - Jack Rabbit Slims @ 11/4
Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood-trained JACK RABBIT SLIMS remains a maiden after 12 starts, but he’s been running well in defeat of late and looks set to avenge a near miss over course-and-distance last month.
The three-year-old gelding threatened more than he’s actually achieved on occasions last season, but he’s hit the frame on each of his last four starts, twice running to Racing Post Ratings of 61 during that period, including when beaten a nose here three weeks ago.
He’s frustratingly gone up 1lb for that, but he’s theoretically 6lb lower with priming apprentice Jake Dickson taking over in the saddle.

15:30 Ffos Las - Star Velocity @ 8/11
Ralph Beckett’s STAR VELOCITY appeared to be learning on the job in last month’s Southwell debut, but the daughter of Zoustar was putting in some strong late work and could well leave that form behind with that experience under her belt.
An 80,000gns half-sister to 5f AW winner Sweet Carolina, she was a notable drifter on course, her price more than doubling to 28/1 from an opening 12s, suggesting the run would bring her on.
Slowly away and green in the rear division early on, the penny steadily dropped under Edward Greatrex and she came well inside the final furlong to take third, one place ahead of her much shorter priced stablemate Planet Seeker, who has since won a Class 2 handicap on Newmarket’s July Course off a mark of 82.
That was a highly promising start and any improvement will make her very hard to beat.

18:25 Wolverhampton - Wilbur @ 3/1
The booking of Billy Loughnane for Harry Eustace’s WILBUR takes the eye, the two-year-old deserving of another chance following an odds-on defeat at Catterick last month.
The €160,000 son of Kingman shaped like a surefire future winner when fourth of ten on his debut over 6f at Newbury in May, the bay colt making good late gains under Jamie Spencer, having been stuck behind a wall of horses with 2f remaining.
He was beaten just two lengths on that occasion and ran to a Racing Post Rating of 75, so deservedly headed the market in a lesser race over 7f at Catterick subsequently.
However, he didn’t appear overly in love with the downhill track, getting unbalanced and hanging right under pressure, prior to meeting with significant interference when the errant winner ducked sharply across his path.
This more conventional track should suit and his experience might just give him the edge over a couple of interesting newcomers from big yards.
