Horse Racing Tips: Ablon can take another step forward

Seven meetings take place across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, with five flat cards and two jumps meetings covering the afternoon into the evening. First off is Nottingham, before they go at Perth and Yarmouth, while the evening sees action from Limerick, Bellewstown, Kempton and Newbury.
Among our Thursday fancies is one for trainer Richard Hannon who showed some promise over the winter and who will now be looking to deliver on handicap debut.

16:15 Yarmouth - Kalamunda @ 6/4
KALAMUNDA ran an excellent race on his belated reappearance this season. He ran well in the early stages and looked to be kicking on for home with a furlong to go, however he received a slight bump in the closing stages which seemed to take some of his momentum.
He may have been lacking a bit of race fitness having not seen the track since September. However, it was a decent performance all things considered and one which he can build upon here.
He has yet to win on turf, which is a slight concern, but his previous effort gives confidence particularly the way he stayed on in the closing stages after getting a bit tight for room.
The drop down into a Class 5 should aid his cause here and now with a run under his belt he has every chance to go one better here.

18:15 Newbury - Ablon @ 8/1
ABLON seems to be one who has taken a bit of time to realise her potential. She did not show much at the back end of last season with two middling efforts at Lingfield and Goodwood.
However, she was given a couple of runs over the winter at Kempton and looked to have taken a big step forward.
A narrow second place in February was followed up with a brilliant win two weeks later where she made all, dictating the tempo of the race throughout and keeping on well under pressure in the closing stages.
It was not the most eye-catching of wins, but one which showed she has some ability and that there may be more to come from her.
Her lack of experience on the track suggests that she will have to find a bit more than her rivals here, especially on her handicap debut.
However, her success last time out shows that she has the ability to win races and she could take another big step forward here.

19:43 Kempton - Tripoli Flyer @ 3/1
After a reasonable amount of success over jumps, TRIPOLI FLYER's flat racing career has yet to take off, however, there have been signs that this may be about to change.
He made his flat debut on the all-weather in February and, while he finished some way back there were signs he could be successful as a dual purpose campaigner.
The Fergal O'Brien charge finished fourth on the turf at Nottingham before coming home third last time out on the all-weather at Kempton.
While he ended up some way back on that occasion, it was a credible effort only finishing behind Water To Wine who subsequently finished third in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot just over two weeks ago.
He did not do himself any favours by being slow out of the stalls, but he ran well throughout and stayed on well.
He still has a lot to learn as a flat runner, but his mark of 72 may be charitable when considering what he has achieved over jumps and he has a strong chance here on his flat handicap debut.
