Horse Racing Tips: Tennessee Stud to collect Curragh prize

There is plenty of Sunday racing action in store across the UK and Ireland as the month of June draws to a close, with Ffos Las, Uttoxeter and Cartmel joined by the Irish Derby card at the Curragh.

The big race at the Curragh features in my three best bets for Sunday's action, with Tennessee Stud fancied to turn things around from Epsom with the Derby winner. Check out my Horse Racing Tips down below. 

14:32 Uttoxeter - Queensworthy @ 5/4

Both Laravie for James Owen and QUEENSWORTHY for Dan Skelton are seeking to complete hat-tricks as they line up for the 2m4f novice' hurdle on Uttoxeter's Summer Cup card.

Laravie has easy wins at Stratford and here over C&D as she belatedly opened her hurdles account but those races lacked depth and, rated 114, she's not setting the bar especially high.

A mare by Order Of St George, Queensworthy won a Southwell bumper on debut in May and followed up at the start of this month with a smooth transition to jumping as she scored at Market Rasen (2m2½f, good) when justifying favouritism under Harry Skelton.

Her technique was impressive and she won with any amount in hand. Stamina should be a forte on pedigree, so the rise in trip looks like a positive, and she gets 4lb from her main market rival in this bid to remain unbeaten.

14:55 Curragh - Alakazi @ 7/1 

Currawood looks set to head the market for the Listed Colm McLoughlin Celebration Stakes over a mile and deservedly so.

Paddy Twomey's colt was second to Green Impact at Leopardstown earlier this month in this grade, his second successive silver medal in that grade.

Previously, he was runner-up over C&D behind Officer, with ALAKAZI behind in third. Johnny Murtagh's Aga Khan-owned colt was having only his third run and stepped forward from landing his maiden at Leopardstown in April.

He's open to further progress and it doesn't take a leap of faith to imagine the Footstepsinthesand colt can improve past the admirable Currawood.

16:10 Curragh - Tennessee Stud @ 5/1 

Lambourn heads a five-strong Aidan O'Brien delegation in the Irish Derby as the Ballydoyle supremo bids for a record-extending 17th win.

If he does it, he'll emulate the likes of Galileo (2001), High Chaparral (2002), Camelot (2012), Australia (2014) and Auguste Rodin (2023) in doing the Derby double of the powerhouse trainer.

He did appear to get things very easy on the front end at Epsom, and more questions should be asked of him now.

He's odds-on and looks too short, with the likes of Ruler Of The World (2013), Wings Of Eagles (2017) and Anthony Van Dyck (2019) failing to follow up here for the yard in the past when similarly rated for this Epsom wins.

TENNESSEE STUD was third at Epsom for Joseph O'Brien and it was an effort well worth marking up. He was in the rear throughout and made eye-catching late gains under Dylan McMonagle.

If he's closer to the pace turning in, his stamina could kick in and give his trainer a second win in this race after Latrobe in 2018.
