Horse Racing Tips: Rare can show smart Change of gear

There is racing across both codes in Britain on Sunday with Flat action at Ffos Las and Pontefract, along with a jumps card at Hexham.
We have concentrated on the meeting at Pontefract for Sunday’s Horse Racing Tips, with a class-dropping filly taking the eye in the Listed feature at 15:40.

15:40 Pontefract - Karmology @ 3/1
The Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes presents an excellent opportunity for Karmology to get her career back on track.
The Karl Burke-trained five-year-old was a good second in the Nottinghamshire Oaks on her return behind a race-fit filly and was thrown into the Group 2 Middleton Stakes off the back of that.
The Middleton looked the right spot for her, given her strong course form at York, but she paid the price for racing up with a red-hot pace, fading into fifth behind top-class filly See The Fire.
The winner was an excellent third against the boys in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot this week, and Karmology could dominate this from stall three.
The only time she tackled 1m4f, she ran a career best, so this trip looks worth exploring.

16:15 Pontefract - Captain Potter @ 10/3
Captain Potter catches the eye for Brian Ellison in the 2m2f handicap at Pontefract with Shay Farmer taking a handy 7lb off his back.
The son of Almzanor has been in good form in Flat staying races this term, and the time of his recent second to Queen Of Steel at the track was strong for the grade.
He must find extra up in class, but he likes it here, will have no weight on his back, and his proven stamina will stand him in good stead for this marathon test.
He can get the measure of Hughie Morrison’s Surrey Fire, who is presumably thought capable of much better, but who has been a beaten favourite on three of his past four starts and looks an unlikely stayer.

16:50 Pontefract - Rare Change @ 7/2
The drop back to 6f is a slight doubt surrounding the in-form Partisan Hero in this Pontefract sprint handicap. He has been winning over a mile and 7f and faces several speedy opponents, while the handicapper may be catching up with him.
Rare Change is one of those with pace to burn for Richard Hughes from a workable draw in stall four. The three-year-old filly was in superb nick herself at the beginning of the campaign, winning as she liked over 6f at Windsor on her return before doubling up in a 7f handicap at York.
While she came unstuck over that trip at Goodwood next time, that was a forgivable effort as she found herself boxed in by the far rail with nowhere to go.
Back at this more conventional track over a stiff 6f, Rare Change can show her true colours. She is versatile and won’t mind dropping back in distance.
