Horse Racing Tips: Lazz set to dazzle in Maurice de Gheest

There is a host of interesting action across Europe on Sunday and there are European Group 1 laurels up for grabs in France and Germany.
The Flat turf card at Deauville is where we have concentrated our attention and we’ve found three wagers at the French track, including one in the feature Prix Maurice de Gheest.

13:31 Deauville - Redorange @ 11/4
Deauville’s Listed Prix du Cercle went to top-class sprinter Bradsell last season and paved the way for a Nunthorpe victory for Archie Watson’s stable star.
There is nothing of Bradsell’s calibre in this season’s running, but the prize can stay in Britain regardless, courtesy of REDORANGE for Clive Cox.
The gap between top handicapper and Listed operator is paper-thin and Redorange has been a standing dish in many of Britain’s top three-year-old handicaps this term, showing significant progression throughout that sequence at a variety of different courses.
Red Orange has recorded Racing Post Ratings of 90, 98, 104, 103 and 109 on his past five runs and his latest Goodwood effort deserves upgrading as he was forced to wait for a run up the far rail, flashing home for third but leaving things a little too late.
That’s the best form in this field and this commendable son of Mehmas, who has stacks of form on straight tracks, can be trusted to run his race under Rossa Ryan.

15:05 Deauville - Lazzat @ 6/5
There is little doubt who has the best form in the Prix Maurice de Gheest as LAZZAT sets a daunting standard for the rest to reach. He can land his third Group 1 and secure back-to-back runnings of Deauville’s flagship sprint.
The son of Territories has been one of Wathnan Racing’s shrewder acquisitions this season as his first start in the blue, gold and red silks resulted in a gutsy success in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Lazzat got the better of a sustained duel with top-class Japanese sprinter Satono Reve and the pair pulled three lengths clear of the third.
A poster boy for the division, this horse is the best sprinter in France and the British challenge is uninspiring once more.
Tried over a mile at the start of the year, Lazzat is a strong stayer over sprinting trips and should relish an extra half-furlong in what will have been his long-term aim.

16:15 Deauville - Scoville @ 6/5
There haven’t been many more exciting performances in novice company all season than SCOVILLE’s 14-length tour de force at Newmarket a few weeks ago, and the William Haggas-trained three-year-old is expected to do the business in the Group 3 Prix Daphnis later at Deauville.
Scoville is ready for this rise in class on that evidence and shouldn’t be long before making his mark in Group 1s, having been brought along steadily by Haggas.
The clock backed up the visual impression of Scoville’s recent success. He set a relentless gallop and sustained it to win eased-down. But for that, he’d doubtless have left clock-watchers purring even more.
This looks like a good piece of placing by Haggas, whose Too Darn Hot colt has a likeable way of going up front and can only progress, while a first-time tongue-tie may aid his cause here.
