Daily racing tips

Another week gets underway and Flat racing takes over in Britain after the ending of the National Hunt season and we have four meetings taking place on Monday.

Bath gets us underway in the afternoon and there's also an all-weather card from Lingfield. The best of the day's action is provided by Naas in the evening and their feature race is the Listed Woodlands Stakes, with Wolverhampton also offering up a seven-race card.

We have three strong fancies to follow across the afternoon and amongst them is an Aidan O'Brien trained handicap debutant who should go well in the €50,000 Blackwater Handicap.

Horse Racing Tips - Monday, April 27

  • 17:45 Naas - Bad Boy Rizz @ 9/2
  • 19:15 Naas - Bucanero Fuerte @ 3/1

17:45 Naas - Bad Boy Rizz @ 9/2

Ross O'Sullivan has been in very good recent form, with three winners from just 11 runners, giving him a very healthy strike-rate of 27 per cent. He'll be on the lookout for more winners at Naas on Monday and the progressive BAD BOY RIZZ appears to have every chance.

He appreciated the drop back to 5f towards the back end of last season, but with another summer on his back, he should have strengthened up and the return to 6f should be fine. It was a fine effort from the colt at Cork in September and he finished second by half-a-length.

The stiff 5f at Navan worked a treat next time and he went on to get off the mark with a very impressive performance. Always prominent, he kicked clear with a furlong or so to go and was even eased before the line. Handicaps can facilitate further improvement here.

19:15 Naas - Bucanero Fuerte @ 3/1

Naas' feature race is the Listed Woodlands Stakes and the Robson De Aguiar-trained BUCANERO FUERTE is comfortably the highest rated runner in the field. He's a Group horse running against lesser horses realistically and he should be winning here.

The son of Wootton Bassett won a course and distance Listed contest back in May and the likes of Big Gossey could get nowhere near him on that occasion. He then went on to win a Group 3 at the Curragh before running a cracker to finish third in the Flying Five Stakes.

That Group 1 form is easily the best on offer here and if he can produce a performance which is even close to that level, the five-year-old will be heading into the winners' enclosure. You can put a line through his run at Cork earlier this month as he clearly needed it.

19:45 Naas - Trojan Warrior @ 3/1

It's often worth taking note when Aidan O'Brien targets three-year-old handicaps and, having won the Madrid Handicap here already this season, the master trainer takes aim at the Blackwater Handicap on Monday, with the very lightly raced TROJAN WARRIOR.

Having had just two starts to date, he looks thoroughly unexposed and really could be anything at this point. Ryan Moore rides the son of Wootton Bassett and he was very professional when winning a 6f maiden on debut in October.

He was never happy in the Group 3 Red Rocks Stakes on his first start of the season and looked badly in need of the run. The yard's runners tend to improve plenty for their first runs and that should be the case here.

We haven't seen the best of him yet and 98 looks like a very workable mark.
