Horse Racing Tips: Horn Cape set to for Cartmel strike

There are five meetings for punters to choose from on Monday with a mix of jumps and Flat racing across Britain and Ireland on a busy start to the week.
National Hunt fare is from Cartmel and they are joined on the Flat by an afternoon meeting at Ayr, while later on they race on the level at Ballinrobe, Beverley and Windsor. Read below for my three fancies from Monday's cards across Britain and Ireland.
Horse Racing Tips - Monday, July 21
15:30 Ayr – Magic Basma each-way @ 22/1
Kevin Ryan has five Ayr Gold Cups on his CV already and he saddles the filly MAGIC BASMA in this Ayr Gold Cup Trial Handicap at the Scottish layout now.
She's a daughter of Expert Eye and won a Carlisle maiden on debut in August last year before going close in novice company at Newcastle and then taking on a Listed race at Newmarket on her final start.
She was seemingly in need of the run after 211 days off when making her first handicap start at Haydock (7f, good) in May but has left that behind since when outrunning an SP of 40/1 to be third at York (6f, good) last month in a Class 4 event.
She remains at the 6f trip now for this test and still has plenty of time on her side. It's interesting that Ryan opts for Ayr and she could have a say taking on her elders.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
15:45 Cartmel – Horn Cape @ 9/2
Trainer Ben Haslam typically enjoys a good run of things at Cartmel, with an historical strike-rate of 19 per cent at the Cumbrian venue, and he's sending HORN CAPE here once more as the JP McManus-owned gelding tries to make it fourth time lucky at the track.
He has twice been well held here over hurdles but he ran a big race over fences in May, making most of the running and just getting edged out by his more fancied stablemate Coqolino late on after they had gone clear.
The hurdles race he tackled last month was a much stronger event and with just two starts over fences, this six-time hurdles winner is open to progress in this sphere. He's on a fair mark of 128 and may take some halting now.

19:40 Windsor – Kathleen Mary @ 9/1
The British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Handicap at Windsor is a 1m2f contest that looks highly competitive on paper.
Princess Rascal won at Salisbury over this trip in May on just her second start and looks ready to improve again after a break, while Purple Rainbow ran well in a decent Ascot novice over a mile in April and isn't judged harshly on her effort in the Sandringham back there last month – her only run since. The William Haggas-trained daughter of Night Of Thunder could offer more upped in trip.
Peter Chapple-Hyam's team are in good order right now and they could be on to a winner here with KATHLEEEN MARY.
She has improved with each of four starts so far and was second-best behind a promising winner in Empress Of All at Chelmsford over this trip in June, coming clear of the remainder. An opening mark of 75 is within her wheelhouse.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
