Horse Racing Tips: Sunshine can star at Windsor

We’ve got a relatively busy start to the week, with five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, so there will be plenty of opportunities to hopefully find a winner or two on Monday. The sole National Hunt meeting of the day is hosted by Cartmel in the afternoon, with Flat action from Ayr. Ballinrobe, Windsor and Beverley provide the evening entertainment.

Amongst our Monday fancies is a John & Thady Gosden-trained runner who looks thoroughly unexposed on handicap debut, William Buick has been booked for the ride and there could be any amount of improvement still to come from the filly in question. You will find my latest Horse Racing Tips below.

17:50 Windsor - Arabica Queen @ 10/3

Nurseries are always interesting at this time of year and progressive improvers are often the way to go. Jonathan Portman’s runner ARABICA QUEEN took a big step forward last time and there’s a good chance that the switch to handicaps can facilitate further progress.

Rob Hornby has ridden her for all three runs so far so it’s a positive that the partnership is set to continue here. She finished fourth in a course and distance novice on debut and the form has received a boost since, with the runner-up winning next time.

Bumping into an impressive winner at Bath next time, she lost little in defeat that day. A trip to Newbury then followed and she managed to get her nose in front as they crossed the line. An opening handicap mark of 74 looks very workable and she can improve again.

19:30 Beverley - Tattie Bogle @ 11/2

This Class 4 handicap over an extended 7f looks very competitive and a return to winning ways could be on the cards for the Charlie Johnston-trained TATTIE BOGLE. Rowan Scott rides and it would be unwise to rule out a return to winning ways for the four-year-old.

The son of Outstrip has been kept busy this season, having already had 12 starts, and has managed to win twice. He was a comfortable winner over course and distance back in June and was narrowly denied, when second by half-a-length, at Thirsk earlier this month.

You can put a line through his most recent course and distance effort, which was a little below-par, as it came just three days after the Thirsk run. Clearly that was too soon for him and having had a couple of weeks to get over that, a return to form should be on the cards.

19:50 Windsor - Sunshine Star @ 6/4

John & Thady Gosden have two winners from seven runners at Windsor so far this season, which gives them a healthy strike-rate of 29 per cent. They run handicap debutante SUNSHINE STAR in this race and she looks well set to make the strike-rate even better.

The handicapper has allotted her an opening mark of 84, which could prove to be very generous on the evidence of her impressive win at Lingfield last time out. She’s a half-sister to Oaks winner Soul Sister and is bred to be significantly better than her current rating.

Scoring by four-and-three-quarter lengths last time out, she was much too good for her rivals on that occasion and the sky’s the limit for her. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she goes on to compete in much higher grades than this and the daughter of Sea The Stars gets the nod.
