Horse Racing Tips: Appleby 2YO can crack the code

Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Friday with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening, as well as three other meetings for those who like their summer jumping.
First off is Sandown before they go at Wexford, Doncaster, Newton Abbot, Bellewstown, Haydock, Bangor and Beverley. Amongst our Horse Racing Tips for Friday is a two-year-old for Charlie Appleby.

15:00 Sandown - Military Code @ 2/1
Military Code has dropped back in trip after failing to mount a challenge in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot. A look at his breeding and you’d think he would get the six furlongs, but his performance was disappointing that day.
His form over five furlongs still stands out here and he is worth another go back down in trip. On his last run over this distance he gave weight away carrying a penalty but still held on against two debutants, both of whom won next time and went on to run well at Ascot.
Military Code should be capable of winning a Listed race over five furlongs and although the draw is a slight negative, he should have the class to overcome it.

16:45 Sandown - Term Of Endearment @ 9/4
Previous winners Trueshan and Coltrane face off here. If there is any firm in the description, there’s a strong chance Trueshan is going to be pulled out.
The pair have shown their class over the years, but now is the time to take them on. Trueshan is on the slide and doesn’t have ideal conditions, and Coltrane has already run three times this season and this is a quick turnaround from the Ascot Gold Cup.
Term Of Endearment could be a good price against the two here. She’s gradually improved and looks a top stayer in the making.
Her first run over this trip was in a competitive race at Meydan; she dropped back down to one mile six next time out and stayed on well when headed. She’s worth another go at this trip.

19:15 Haydock - Artanis @ 1/1
Artanis was a well-backed filly on debut, going off 4/6 for the George Boughey yard. She was a tad on her toes in the early stages but travelled really well, and when she was pulled out for a challenge, she would have been expected to pick up. However, she bumped into one who was well up to the task.
Despite being beaten, she still pulled away nicely from the others, finishing seven-lengths clear of the third.
The first two are well worth keeping an eye on, and although we have yet to see the winner again and don’t have much of an indication of how good the form is, the suspicion is that the pair are both top fillies in the making.
Artanis now faces mostly unraced fillies, and with experience and clearly having some ability, she’s very likely to go one better this time around.
