Haydock park racecourse

There are just four race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Sunday and I am here to give you an overview of the action taking place at Haydock, with a seven-race card scheduled.

Below you will find my Haydock Park Tips for Sunday, August 10.

16:15 Haydock Park - Vlad @ 10/3

Seven runners are declared for this Class 4 nursery handicap over 6f on Sunday and I like the look of Simon and Ed Crisford's entry VLAD, who landed his first career success on his last outing, beating Born Slippy by a short head.

The two-year-old son of A'Ali has enjoyed a bright start to his racing career, with his first three starts recording second-place finishes at Newmarket, Wetherby and Lingfield.

He will be making his first visit to Haydock on Sunday and arrives here 3lbs higher and upped in grade. Vlad's past four starts have been impressive and I think he is capable of better still.

17:15 Haydock Park - Spring Is Sprung @ 15/2

SPRING IS SPRUNG will be gunning for a hat-trick when he rocks up to Haydock on Sunday for this Class 4 handicap over 5f. The Paul Midgley-trained star impressed on his last two starts, winning at Newmarket and more recently Chelmsford - both over this distance.

The six-year-old son of Oasis Dream made all in both of those victories which has showcased his stamina, and he will be a real threat in this stacked field of 15 runners at Haydock.

He arrives 3lbs higher and reunites with jockey Jason Hart, who was on board last time out. His speed is a weapon, but there are others who start well for him to deal with on this occasion, but his price does look very appealing. Strong contender once again.

18:45 Haydock Park - Belgravian @ 15/8

I round off my selections with the final race of the day, which is an exciting two-miler Class 4 handicap. Seven horses have been declared for this contest and the one who catches my eye is BELGRAVIAN for Andrew Balding's yard.

The three-year-old son of Make Believe has shown vast improvements since switching to handicaps in June, which has seen him land two successes at Doncaster - one over 1m 4f and the other being 2m 1/2f.

The gelding has shown his ability at this distance and I think he is a strong contender on Sunday based on his recent form.

18:45 Haydock - Winner Belgravian
