Horse Racing Tips: Saddadd seeking Goodwood success

There are five meetings to go at on Wednesday with two Flat afternoon cards on turf at Goodwood and Redcar, the highlight coming at the South Downs track with a competitive Listed event at 15:35.
All-weather enthusiasts have a bumper nine-race card to go at at Kempton in the evening with no less than 111 runners in action. And for National Hunt followers there are meetings at both Perth and Listowel, the pick of the races being the Grade 3 Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase in Ireland.

15:35 Goodwood - Saddadd @ 2/1
The highlight of an interesting Goodwood card comes at 15:35 when 11 go to post for the Virgin Bet Foundation Stakes, a Listed contest over 1m2f for 3yos+.
Heading the field is Charlie Appleby's low-mileage 4yo Ancient Wisdom, a Group 1 juvenile winner on soft ground, and he sets a good standard. He has been off the track since coming in a well-held fifth in Epsom's Coronation Cup in June but has been gelded since and with his sights lowered considerably here holds good claims.
However, the one who really stands out is Roger Varian's fast-improving Saddadd. This son of Pinatubo took the highly prestigious London Gold Cup on his handicap debut at Newbury in May before advancing his form after a three-month break with an impressive victory in another strong handicap at Sandown.
That success was his first race against older horses and also showed that soft ground holds no fears for him. There's little doubt he is destined for better things and he can take this step up in class in his stride and thwart form pick Ancient Wisdom.

15:00 Goodwood - Rhoscolyn @ 3/1
Just 35 minutes earlier on the card is a cracking 1m handicap for older horses and course specialist Rhoscolyn looks the way to go.
David O'Meara's 7yo gelding has built up a fine record on this idiosyncratic track and bids for a famous hat-trick in this contest following victories in 2023 and 2024.
Conditions have come just right for him again - he revels in the mud - and it could prove wise to forgive him his most recent 13th placing in a big-field Ascot 7f handicap given his consistently poor record at that stiff track.
Rhoscolyn advertised his well being with a ready success in the Golden Mile Handicap at the Glorious Goodwood meeting here last month and the booking of Oisin Murphy (won on him here in 2023) is another plus.
The trio of Alpha Crucis, Arkhalia Flynn and Ata Rangi all command plenty of respect and can fight it out for minor honours but this could be Rhoscolyn's day again.

18:10 Kempton - Baikal @ 5/1
Runners abound at Kempton and 14 go to post for a highly competitive 11f handicap at 18:10 with Sir Mark Prescott's Baikal very much the one to be interested in.
It's no secret that Prescott has few peers when readying an handicapper and this daughter of More Than Ready belied a seven-month absence to comfortably get off the mark on her first venture into this company at Wolverhampton at the start of the month, drawing clear under mere hand riding in the last 1f.
She has been hit with a 6lb weight rise but that form is working out well and it doesn't look sufficient to stop this lightly-raced filly from going in again.
Indeed, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Baikal ended up much better than her current official mark of 76 come the end of the season.
Both Crystal Mariner and Blast The Dream bring solid credentials to the table too here in what promises to be an informative contest.
