Carlisle Tips: Perhaps more than crumbs with Crumpet on Saturday

There are eight UK and Irish race meetings on offer across Saturday and one of the race cards I like the look of is Carlisle. There are seven races across the day and I have picked out three selections for you to consider.
Below you can check out my Carlisle Tips.
Carlisle Tips - Saturday, July 5
- 18:12 Carlisle - Swift Salian @ 6/1
- 18:42 Carlisle - Wheres The Crumpet @ 5/2
- 20:12 Carlisle - Bellasio @ 11/4

18:12 Carlisle - Swift Salian @ 6/1
This 7f Class 4 handicap is set to feature 11 runners and there are a couple standout candidates for a punt in my opinion. SWIFT SALIAN of David and Nicola Barron's yard, is the one who sticks out the most for me because his last outing was at this racecourse, which he won.
It was a 1m 1f trip on June 16 and the four-year-old delivered a strong performance to win by one-and-three-quarter-lengths after filtering into a strong position with the leaders at 3f out.
It's now back-to-back victories for the gelding, with a victory over a mile coming at Hamilton before his latest trip to Carlisle. His yard should be impressed with the progress he has been making this season and Swift Salian is now back at a career-high mark and up in grade, so he is considered a very strong contender for Saturday.

18:42 Carlisle - Wheres The Crumpet @ 5/2
When looking for value it always helps when there are runners who have enjoyed C&D victories. WHERES THE CRUMPET offers just that in this Class 6 handicap, with her win at Carlisle coming in the mare's last outing in May as a 14/1 shot.
She defeated Top Gun Tina by a neck and connections will have been delighted with that result after a third-placed finish at Newcastle AW in March. The seven-year-old is showing good signs of progress and trainer David Thompson should be feeling confident about her chances on Saturday.
The mare won in a field of 12 last time out, so her chances amongst eight other runners on Saturday look favourable. There is a 3lb increase to consider with her this time around but in her current mood she has to be taken seriously.
It may be more than just crumbs for for Wheres The Crumpet in Carlisle again as conditions are set to be identical to how they were in May.

20:12 Carlisle - Bellasio @ 11/4
Sticking with previous winners in CA2, BELLASIO is my pick for the final race of the day, which is a Class 5 handicap over 1m 1f and featuring a stacked field of 15.
The four-year-old won here on his last appearance in June over a similar trip as the 2/1 favourite, beating Homer Stokes by a one-and-three-quarter length. This was preceded by consecutive second-place finishes at Hamilton over similar distances, which were themselves improvements on his fifth-place finish in a 7f race at Southwell at the start of the season.
The gelding appears to be growing in confidence and I think that feeling is going to be shared by trainer Grant Tuer and connections, even with a 4lb rise. He's likely to get plenty of backing ahead of Saturday and you can understand why.
