Thursday Greyhound Tips: Smokestack Saxon’s set for supremacy

Our very own Greyhounds expert Michael Smyth (@bettingjungle) is back with three top tips this fine Thursday. We're off to Hove for today's trio of fancies.

1 pt 18:59 Hove – Ivy Hill Cherry (T1) @ SP

All eyes on Hove this evening with two graded races plus ten opens taking place at the Nevill Road venue. At 18:59 look out for well-drawn railer IVY HILL CHERRY, who lines up from T1 in the Summertime Stayers open over the six-bend 695-metre trip. The Seamus Cahill-trained June 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney is a class act over course and distance with plenty of solid efforts in recent months.

A recent second placed effort in 41.89 chasing home Powerhouse Duke reads well and a repeat of that should see Ivy Hill Cherry go close this evening. Broncos Bullet (T5) looks the likely race leader and could prove popular in the market. Another in with a chance is Minstrels Six from T3. The Jason Heath-trained performer is another consistent runner over this trip and would be a danger to all if she turns with the pace.

1 pt 19:49 Hove – Ballymac Kinga (T6) @ SP

Heat one of the 515 Trophy over the extended four-bend trip at 19:49 can go to well-drawn solo wide seed BALLYMAC KINGA from T6. The Belinda Green-trained October 2022 daughter of Ballymac Cooper is in flying form with two wins and two place efforts in her last five runs. Tonight, if Kinga brings her trapping boots and gets it right at the boxes, she can lead round and kick for home down the back straight, then its catch me if you can.

Jacktavern Chief, a recent winner of the Category Three Coral 500 Standard Trophy rates as the main danger from T5. In a competitive race, another in with live claims is railer Ower Cracker from T1. The son of Deerjet Sydney starts and stays, he could be worth including in forecast bets at a price.

1 pt 20:24 Hove – Smokestack Saxon (T5) @ SP

Next up at Hove is the 500 Winner Of One Trophy final over the four-bend 500-metre trip at the south coast venue. All eyes will be on the Jason Heath-trained middle seed SMOKESTACK SAXON, who runs from T5. The October 2024 youngster has only had two competitive runs since a move over from Ireland and has bolted up on each occasion. On Hove debut, Saxon slightly missed the break but then paced up well to hit the front and went onto record 29.47 over this 500-metre trip. Next time up Saxon pinged the lids and recorded an impressive quick-away-made-all success in 29.31.

Tonight, if Smokestack Saxon gets it right at lid rise and leads round this should be all over bar the shouting. Railers Deadly Ruben (T1) and Bonus Bullet (T2) can battle it out for the runners-up spot. Arabella (T4) is another that should enter calculations if considering a forecast bet in the race.
