Sunday Greyhound Tips: Michael’s looking to go one better at Towcester

Our Greyhound tipster Michael Smyth (@bettingjungle) is back with three tips from Towcester on this bank holiday weekend, after going two-for-three on Saturday.

1 pt 16:47 Towcester – Born Racer (T2) @ SP

Two from three last night with Goldcash Warrior and Underground Gold both running out impressive winners of their English Greyhound Derby heats. Today, we head back to Towcester with three selections on a competitive mixed card featuring graded and open race action. At 16:47, the Orchestrate Sprint open race over the two-bend, 270-metre trip can go to well-drawn railer, BORN RACER from T2.

The Carol Weatherall-trained August 2022 son of Ballymac Anton has a chance to pop out and grab the rails with Arthur Lobster (T1) not the quickest into the stride, if that happens, Born Racer will prove very hard to beat. Pavilion Team is a class act and rates as the danger from T6. Oxford raider Gallant Star (T5) is worth noting in the market. She has some smart Irish form and was two from two at Oxford before the recent closure of the track.

1 pt 17:06 Towcester – Doyle (T3) @ SP

At 17:06, look out for the Frank Gray-trained railer DOYLE, who lines up from T3. The July 2024 youngster moved well in trials and on debut was put into a Derby Trial Stakes race over the 500-metre trip but finished sixth following trouble at the first and third bends, a line can be put through that run. This afternoon, back in much calmer waters, Doyle looks well-drawn to lead round and, once on the bunny, he will prove hard to peg back.

All eyes on boxes - with a short run into the first bend, it's imperative that Doyle pings the lids and skips a couple clear down the back straight. Swift Quick (T1) and Vonder Express (T2) can battle it out to chase home the selection and fill the forecast spot. Demon Slave (T6) bolted up in a D2 sprint back in December, clocking 15.95, he’s an interesting runner this afternoon on his return to competitive action following over four months off the track.

1 pt 17:43 Towcester – Makeit Lottie (T1) @ SP

The third and final selection from Towcester this afternoon is MAKEIT LOTTIE, who lines up from T1 in the Orchestrate Maiden Open Race over the four-bend 460-metre trip. The Frank Gray-trained railer is plotted up with a vacant box on his inside and three middle seeds and a wide seed on his outside.

If Lottie brings her trapping boots and gets it right at the boxes, she can be a couple clear at the first bend and half a dozen clear by the time she hits the third bend. On the bunny, the August 2024 pup is capable of dipping below 27 seconds over this course and distance. A repeat of that would see her take this.

Kepla Alexa (T5) has form over further, she could be the one to stay on and grab second late on. Flitwick Trigger (T3) is another worth considering as a forecast mixer.
