Saturday Greyhounds Tips: A couple of Shelbourne selections for your delectation

We return to our home track after some mixed results at Cork recently; prior to that, we were in good form over course and distance in the summer. What I do/did like though was our recent sprint trial here - we recorded a very quick 18.57 which would be competitive in open race sprints, so that has brought us on nicely for tonight.

How do I see tonight’s race going? With that blistering early I think that we lead on the run-up, rail the field off at the bend, and boot clear down the back. If anything we are going as far as we want to go so wouldn’t want a strong stayer turning on our shoulder, but I see trouble in behind that can mean we win this race by multiple lengths. Solid selection.

We return back to the course after being eliminated in the second round of the derby and then being sent over an extended six bends which we made a very impressive debut winning hard held by 10 lengths.

So, how do I see tonight’s race going? I feel with our four-bend pace we can clear these early and go lengths up. Yes, there are strong stayers in the race, but I can see us keeping up the gallop and recording an impressive victory. The danger in the race would be if we don’t lead Trap 6 but on all forms, I see us breaking better and railing that one off at the first bend.
