Friday Greyhounds Tips: Two to start the weekend with a bang

T2 (Swift Serena) 18:14 Nottingham @ SP

This bitch is returning from season and is getting quicker and stronger each race she has back. Crowded at crucial stages in the race last week, however tonight we have an ideal make-up to lead and make all.

How I see this race panning out - T1 recently raised to this grade but has struggled to get involved. Normally slowly away, so we will be able to lead this runner before we reach the first bend.

T3 is another slow-to-go type, big price latest and has come last on three of her last four races so a downgrade is on the horizon. Again, hopefully, will give us lots of room on the run-up today.

T4 is a massive danger to us with his late burst, this versatile four and six bend runner holds his time well and has a really good late kick. I'm hoping this one gets held up, as bar us the split times for all the other runners are similar and I can see crowding and us kicking clear.

I wouldn't want this runner turning a clean second behind us as I feel it might be too strong on the run-in if that was the case.

T5 is a recent A3 scorer, steps up to A2 for the first time, and will need to improve on times and splits to get involved. Not for me.

T6 same as T4 really, A four and six bend runner, times very consistent, does have a good draw on the outside to work with, but to me I see most of these coming together at the bend including this one.

So back to us - everything points to a trap-to line-victory for this bitch, pace up to clear the field by the bend, middle pace to go clear and then have enough in the tank to hold on close home when the majority of the field will be closing her down.

Strong choice.

T5 (Avongate Venus) 19:44 Romford @ SP

Very quick four bend runner steps up to this six bend trip for the first time this evening. I probably would've max-betted this runner had she have been here and had a look, but no prior trial is a slight negative.

However, the early pace this runner has should negate the no look, and can use this as a trial once getting out in front and clearing away.

How I see this coronation cup first round heat being run - T1; won last week in a very competitive time for an S1 after getting off the front from a good draw, same draw tonight, but up against far better and quicker opposition so could struggle to get round quite as well as she did last week.

T2; recently back on the card after a lay off, last week should've blown away any cobwebs, but looking at overall form will struggle to get involved in this as the class and calibre of tonight's runners are just above this one's form.

T3 comes in as a late reserve, and looking over the times and seeing S2 form lines makes me think this one will be a very large price and won't be good enough to get involved.

T4 is a massive danger to us because it's proven at the track and also the trip. Very consistent form and times and will pick the pieces up if we don't lead clearly, as off the last bend we enter no man's land and this runner will be staying on.

T6 is just a touch off top class, a Yarmouth raider who does have winning form over course and distance but times are a bit off T4 and hopefully us, too. Does have a good draw outside but I can't see this one getting involved.

So back to us in T5 - ideal launchpad to pace up and go clear round the first two bends, four bend speed to open up and stretch on, but then we enter the unknown off the last so I would prefer us to be a few lengths clear by that point.

Solid choice.
