Friday Greyhound Tips: Romford runners can bring home the bacon

Our resident Greyhound guru Michael Smyth (@bettingjungle) is back with his Friday selections, which all come from Romford.

1 pt 19:13 Romford – Newinn Jolie (T5) @ SP

All eyes on Romford this evening with eleven open races and one graded race taking place at the London Road venue. At 19:13, look out for NEWINN JOLIE who lines up from T5 in the Happy 70th Birthday Barry Coney Stakes open over the six-bend 575-metre trip. The Maxine Locke-trained middle seed caught the eye at Towcester recently, staying on well over 500 metres.

This step up in distance will suit and granted a clear run, the April 2024 daughter of Newinn Session can make her move from the third bend, cut through the pack and hit the front late on. Bushpark Cathal (T6) looks well-drawn to lead round and could go well at a price. Another in with live claims is kennelmate to the selection Finally Matched in T1. The lightly raced railer makes her six-bend debut this evening and the market will be the best guide to her chances.

1 pt 20:53 Romford – Bombay Buck (T5) @ SP

The Maureen Phillpots 90th Birthday Stakes open race at 20:53 can go to well-drawn middle seed BOMBAY BUCK from T5. The Paul Young-trained flying machine has won two on the bounce in recent weeks, clocking 23.85 and 23.75 following smart 3.67 and 3.57 sectionals. Tonight, it's all on the break again, with Bombay Buck looking to lead round and make all and complete a three-timer at Romford.

It is, however, a very competitive race with the likes of Always Wrighty (T1), Bacon Burrger (T2) and Piemans Goalie (T3) all more than capable of a ping break and recording a quick-away-made-all victory. Sprinter Isthatmyfella is an interesting runner from T4, with a smart exit, the Yarmouth raider would be a live runner. Solo wide seed Uncle Ed (T6) will be staying on well and is worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 21:13 Romford – Droopys Scratch (T2) @ SP

The third and final selection from Romford this evening is DROOPYS SCRATCH, who runs from T2 in the Friday Night 500 Maidens Stayers final at 21:13 over the six-bend 575-metre trip. Droopys Scratch was ultra-impressive in the heats last week when winning from off the pace in 35.48, leading at the fifth bend and powering clear of the chasing pack. Tonight, it's all about getting a clear run, avoid a bump and Droopys Scratch will prove very hard to beat.

Bonville Betty (T3) has claims, especially if she pops out and leads round. Swifty Does It (T6) is a solid Romford performer and one who could be worth including as the forecast mixer in the race. Railer Aero Espresso (T1) is another who enters forecast calculations.
